I ran out of ADHD medication nearly a week ago.
It was supposed to be refilled two weeks ago. Doctor went on holiday and forgot about it. Then they got back three days ago, and I called them. They said 'sure, prescription will be at the pharmacy on Friday'.
Yesterday they phone up. tl;dr: 'oh I checked and the regulations got updated. Now it'd be really great if you got the prescription from a licensed ADHD specialist instead, so rather than refill your prescription I'd like to talk to you about scheduling an appointment with one. Yes, I know there are only five in the entire country. Yes, I know they all have two year long waiting lists. Yes, I know they cost a minimum of two thousand euro to tell you that you still have a permanent neurological condition you were first diagnosed with in childhood. Yes, I know this is a powerful psychoactive medication you have been on for over a year at this point, which I am asking you now to go cold turkey on. Btw I don't have any open slots for an in-person consultation until the end of February. You're okay going cold turkey with no warning, right? Right?'
I somehow managed to get him to agree to an emergency appointment on Tuesday without threatening extreme violence, so I guess that's still an arrow in my quiver. My loathing for modern psychology and medical establishments grows to unfathomable proportions.
