To step back from the ledge for a moment, I could have sworn that Gura mentioned something in the last member stream about a major project announcement coming up soon.
That's pretty much what I mean too. Like going to your grandparents for Christmas when you're a kid, but then you stop going every year. They're still there, they still exist, but then they die and those visits are gone for good. Even if your day to day life may not change at all, it's the turning of a page and you can't go back. With my top 3 always having been IRyS>Mumei>Fauna, Gura is definitely more symbolic to me and doesn't hit as hard as Mumei or Fauna, but I still thought she was entertaining and she was in my 'like' column, so that's yet another one down.
If someone goes on hiatus or streams as rarely as Gura did, that's fine, I can wait. If it took Mumei a 2 year vocal rest hiatus to come back I would be fine with that. But with a graduation all I can do is hope and cope for them to be at least somewhat active on their personal accounts.
Gura has made sus posts on her other account, so you can probably expect at least the same amount of content if not more (not even joking or making a jab) when she leaves, so at least that cope seems reasonable. Moom tweeted she'd do art and covers once in a while, but I obviously hope she is able to do more. Her enjoying the silent drawing stream she did ~a week ago actually gave me hope that she realizes we just want to hang out with her on stream even if she can't talk. Also when she gets bored I don't think she'll be able to resist the random urges to sing or play Overwatch.
If Gura is false flagging, she is the only one that could get away with it.
Likewise, though, its less towards one streamer and more Holo as a whole.
My sympathies.
I am not sure, if outside of subscribers count she was the MOST accomplished in anything.
She didn't had concerts, EPs, albums, even amount of her OG songs can be counted on one hand, I think.
Which makes her choices all the more confusing and low-key infuriating.
I actually remember one /vt/ post predicting that the "big project" she has kept talking about for a while now was a graduation live she had spent a ton of time preparing. It was a /vt/ shitpost but I wonder if there's merit to that idea.

If the whole thing was a troll (unlikely), how bad would the backlash be? It's one thing to do it when nothing else is really going on like Ame did with that one cookie stream (and she still got flak for that), but the timing of trying to pull something like that now would be in extremely bad taste.
How many times has she talked about starting a project only to scrap the whole thing? She probably scrapped that one as well.

Honestly I have seen this clip on my recommended the past couple of days and my reaction was always "haha funny shork scaring people after Mumei's announcement"
I feel very numb.
I was starting out not caring but as time has gone on it's really hit me how heavy this is. Hololive was what got me into EN vtubing, especially Myth and Gurame. Mumei also kept me in for a long time, and seeing their journeys was incredibly touching. They should've been able to keep going, stay with their friends, and make miracles happen. At least, that's how I felt around August of last year.
I know, I know. Probably too late to keep having hopes, but I had just come out of seeing Breaking Dimensions live and I was super excited for the future of EN. Myth, and Promise, and Advent, and now Justice, all together! All finally doing things like the company mates they are! The momentum kept going with ENReco and eventually the Myth gen concert, it seemed like things were finally gonna get better.
Then... it didn't.
BAM! Ame gone. BAM! Fauna gone. BAM! Mumei gone. And now Gura's got the pistol at the back of her head.
Gura, Ame, and Mumei were the reasons I stayed a fan of Hololive for so long. I did like the other talents, but mostly as a supplement to those three. It was much more rare for me to catch any of the others streaming due to time constraints and lack of interest on my part. But I appreciated having them as a tether, cuz, at least as soon as 2023, I swore things were gonna just keep up the momentum that it'd been gaining for the past 3 years. Now it's all disappearing with a wet fart and I dunno what to make of it other than that I wasted nearly 5 years of my life just watching funny anime girl play vidyo gaem on stream. Everything's just far too serious and dour now. All of them disappear made me feel like a dog abandoned by its owner, and Dooby's erratic streams aren't enough to satiate me, especially when time constraints have made it impossible to watch her anyway.
I have a major pain in my chest. Rather than staying mad, however, I'm gonna share what I did for the girls I loved. I drew a lot of fanart, or at least as much as I could manage given my own issues with paying attention. I will always appreciate what these girls did for me and I'm gonna miss 'em, and Hololive.
I love you, Gura. I love you, Ame. I love you, Mumei. Thank you for being there when I needed you most. I need to move on now, but I'll always appreciate what you did.
