I've been around long enough to know most of these are performative but knowing her past I'd like to think she's sincere and I really commend her for what she is trying to do. With that being said, bitch is fucking naive. There are hundreds of assholes who would abuse this kindness just to get her attention and eventually she will stop doing it. When that happens someone who actually needed those words won't get them and she will know and probably won't get over it.
When you're a public figure with a heart is best to keep this type of shit far away. You can't save everyone.
tl;dr Pekora bought afucking monkeyused copy of Pokemon Emerald that was probably hacked with a key item to a nearly 20 year old event you had to physically show up for to capture Mew. She played the event and shiny hunted a Mew. Bowlcuts and Pokemon autists are pissed because you're not allowed to just buy a used copy of a Pokemon game to play an event that is 20 years old and long past any sort of legitimate distribution that is baked into the cartridge.
edit: Reading through MTL of the site it sounds like Cover bent the knee to the autists.
I will add to this, in Japan you can literally get arrested if you "profit" off altered games. While this usually applies for people who sell hacked Pokemon or ROMs, Pekora streaming a hacked save data COULD fall under that so Cover caving is understandable.
