The VTA grads are the ones with inverse blue triangle, arrows was just too messy. But these new gens are distinguished by: 1. Having original songs on debut, 2. having official names, 3. always having 3 or more members 4. including VTA graduates

QUESTION FOR NIJIFRIENDS: What the fuck was Nijisanji Network? What I'm getting from looking around it seems to have been some kind of program? Second question is, were the ex-members indies originally or did Niji debut them? I know they're indies now but haven't been able to find definitive proof they were originally.

They pretty much just Niji's way to trying the 'supporting indie vtubers' route. I assume that they have indie vtubers who are interested to contact them and then if they are eligible they get into it. Didn't really take off and was only there from May to December 2019.

The two members of it, Tenkai Tsukasa and Fairys-chan are pretty much already an indie vtuber before they get into that network thingie (Tenkai debuted on June 2018* and Fairys-chan debuted on March 2018) which in hindsight made it look like the whole 'invader'-style debuts, albeit done in pre-2020 times and the whole thing is still shaky and everyone have no clue what they were doing.

I don't think most nijifriends these days have any clue how it all worked out, so yeah, lets just assume NijiNetwork is them doing the hipster 'we did phase-invader before it was cool and we fucked that up' kind of thing.

His vtuber wiki page pretty much hinted that before he became Tenkai, he was a vtuber who uses copyrighted character as his avatar (Ittou Kaiji from manga Kaiji) with unknown debut date but evidently has been around during golden age of vtubing (kizuna still around, less emphasis on streaming, live2d still a new-ish thing). That previous persona was also in the know with Fairys-chan (as in part of associated "BAN" group of vtubers with copyrighted character and/or behavior that was seen as bad back in the day including being openly lewd), making the two being part of NijiNetwork a rather interesting coincidence.

They do have a centralized twitter account, but for the most part they are informal group of JP vtubers who either uses copyrighted characters as avatar (either straight up or just 'fan-art of said copyright character'), being lewd (in a vtuber era where it was still frowned upon) or in one case, having too much edgy lore with north korean missiles and shit (aka schizo lore)

It's a bit hard to understand it, but it was back during the early days of vtubing so its kinda expected.

Niji has turned out to be a lot more complex than I initially thought, I went into it thinking "oh it's just gonna be tedious because there's a million of 'em!" but now I realize it's both tedious AND complex.

Edit: Reading even more I now realize that the only things actually under Nijisanji Project are JP, EN, IN, Voiz and Network. Everything else is either directly under anycolor or a joint venture with another company.

The people who entered VTA and never left it, the generations made up of VTA graduates are within Niji main branch.

I'm talking about VTA as a project directly under anycolor.

I'm not putting these people in the chart twice (it would make Niji look bigger than it already is), so if they moved into Niji (even if they changed model and name) they only get included as their newest incarnation.

VTA in there now, the last two things left on the agenda before I get to looking for any stuff I missed are Shanghai/Taipei and VirtualReal.

Neither is easy to grasp for me, first of all I've been reading on Shanghai/Taiper and apparently they never belonged to Niji at all? Niji just licensed their brand off to some chink corpo called Capsule Inc. and they slapped the name on there but later rebranded to VEgo, so technically they go on the chart since Niji was involved but not under Niji because they were never owned by them. Am I getting that right?

On the other hand the eternal question of who VirtualReal belongs to remains: Is it a Niji property or a Bilibili property and who should it go under?
