Live service games that can maintain a playerbase make a lot of money. Sure Destiny 2 has burned some goodwill of some of it's playerbase, but it still has a large dedicated playerbase, and it just adds more and more ways to get more money from the players it has. Can't say if it's making a profit cause no idea the costs, but unless something is completely retarded I sincerely doubt the dev and upkeep costs of Destiny 2 are higher than their income.

Player counts just on steam are still in the 30k+ range, plenty of players to make money off of, sure not the heyday income anymore, but very good nonetheless.

How is Bungie still going, I know investors are retarded but this retarded?

They're wholly owned by Sony, who bought them for over 3 Billion USD. A huge portion of internal firings is to allow more of that purchase price to go to top execs. "New" Bungie brought a few Microsoft execs over, and they slowly ran out all of the founders of Bungie over the course of several years.

People online like to pretend Destiny 2 doesn't make infinite money because they're still zealously shittershattered over a game they haven't played since 2017.

It's not made the money they've wanted it to make for 5+ years. It's been closer to the 300 million per year than the 1 billion per year they thought it should be doing.

it really doesn't especially not for this long. come back with actual numbers to support your deranged take.

Whats actually happening is the retard investors still think bungies name has more value then the money sink it's becoming.

Bungie didn't have the revenue to be other 3 Billion. Sony paid at least 2x what the company was worth, but it was private at the time. So we don't have a full understanding of the finances.

The revenue hasn't justified the team size for years. We have had much better insights into Warframe, a game of probably larger size at this point, and Bungie probably hasn't had more than 500 million in revenue from Destiny since 2020. With a previous company size around 1600 when Sony acquired them. Digital Extreme's Warframe team has been significantly smaller for years and had similar Per User revenues. There's not really a great explanation for what they were wasting the money & people on, but their entire executive team seems to be corporate knife-fighters with zero vision. So, this isn't too surprising.

Yeah, as a WoW veteran, I know firsthand that a game can survive like a cockroach for a very long time when there's a dedicated group that makes that game their entire personality, resulting in it being either the only game in their life or the game they play 95% of the time. Same deal with For Honor, which by all means should have died FUCKING YEARS AGO. All it takes is an aggressive DLC scheme that allows the company to milk that dedicated group constantly so if they lose 4 out of 5 players it's perfectly fine because that 1 player they retained is a fucking gacha whale tier retard that spends twice as much as those 4 other players combined.

Just for Steam, not accounting for PS4/5 which is probably their biggest market. You can try going back to 2020 if you want. It's still there near the top.

It makes infinite fucking money, you're a retarded person if you think otherwise. Bungie also spends money in completely retarded ways on projects that don't end up making money like their 5 different canceled games. It "fell below projections" because even if you make retard bucks, the jew wants you to make retard bucks+1, or +50% depending on how generous he feels and how many cars he wants that month.
thats not numbers. that a group of games that "top earners" with no ranking. and considering black myth wukong is on there I find that suspect.

if i had to guess I'm guessing steam is counting overall sales not this years sales and that past years are doing heavy lifting for current year makes sense because it did sell quite alot.

using steams data destiny is the 33th most active game. that's horrible we can translate that to sales every player paid 100$ for year of prophecy (year of burning money)

3344000$ this year. aka pennies. now of course this discounts all the micro transactions they have and new players buying the rest of the dlcs and other such garbage.

even if it brings in that much yearly how much did they burn making destiny 2 making destiny 1 making all those dlc flops the upkeep of both those games and the cost of marathon.

They do not have even a fraction of a money printer

You do realize the steam player counts aren't total daily users, and are a line of snapshots throughout the day, right? And that the total daily players could be easily 10x the peak snapshot, due to people hopping on and off at different times, right?

even if that's true. it's still in 33rd place. which means its not making nearly as much as some of the games we do have numbers for.

and honestly I doubt its making anywhere near to 3mil a year too since alot of those players are free to play who drop the game due to it's butchered free campaign.

the people who are enjoying it haven't stopped playing yet to talk about it.

id say that's a decent measure of it's success.

Heres a review for you.

your not allowed to complain about it till the standard of quality it has doesn't surpass 100% of the rest of the "triple A" gaming space. hows that?

WH40K Armageddon and Sanctus Reach are leaving Steam in three days because licensing. Will remain on GOG. Armageddon is on a 90% sale and Sanctus Reach is not.

This one is expansive, to the point they lifted actual assets from 2017 work. While the style has been around since the 90s, the exact version is pretty clearly derivative of the Antireal collective's work. But they actually took logos and assets straight out of the posted artwork. This is not a small problem, but an extremely massive one.

In hindsight, they should have probably waited until a week before launch to bring it public, but, yeah, this isn't a small bit, outside contractor type of situation. Most of the previous ones were kind of overblown, but this situation is outright not. They were prominent decals on object textures all over the place in the game's 1st map.
they straight up copy pasted some of that dude's work. I saw on my twitter feed someone replying to an old tweet of the artist, the artist said he was hiding loss references into his artwork and the response was a dude saying yeah they stole your shit with a screenshot of the game with a loss reference in a wall. The original tweet was years old :Vesper-UNHINGED:
I didn't save it because I was on my phone but I'm sure it's making the rounds.

Are there any doom fans anymore though? I look at that shit and it just looks like generic marvel tech shit, a shittier version of warhammer if you will.

On the decals, someone took a large chunk of the one series from Antireal and extracted typefaces as textures. Wild part is they took them out of the PNG via Photoshop and then turned them into Vector Art so they could make them clear textures. It'd be one thing if it was just the textures on a few spots, but the exact lifted textures are on most of the exterior containers and directly influenced the typeface work for the other textures they created. This will go a lot deeper, and if they don't push the game back they're really dumb. Or Sony wants to use it as pretext to clean out Bungie execs.

There's still Doom fans. I think the Game will sell fine, but there's a problem. The game requires Ray Tracing. Everyone is dancing around that without realizing what that does to either the Game Engine or the minimum specs. A huge portion of the Laptops absolutely cannot play the game, which is an absolutely massive chunk of the Steam market. (Huh, looks like Steam really improved their survey system reporting, it's actually breaking out mobile GPUs a lot better. Hadn't realized that.)

There's another problem, Denuvo. Took Eternal 3 years to remove it. Given the steep spec requirements, that's not gonna bode well for sales down the line.
