Nether Update was great. I liked the Deep Dark update but all of that stuff supposed to be released 1.17 iirc but it didn't?
From what all I've read is that Microsoft and Mojang fucked up delivering the update which caused it to be spread across 4 or 5 different versions.
If it was all one update at once it might have been well regarded but I'd imagine the years of blue balling and slow dripping the yosate wore out people's optimism for Minecraft

The Sims has a lot of moving parts, look at how each game has steps forwards and back. Virtual dollhouses are harder to implement that they look. How do you make a game out of it so casuals don't get bored? How much customization and decoration tools are necessary to keep your hardcore fanbase? Finally, how much can you nickel and dime the audience?
because for a good time sims was just above "good enough" and with how many assets those kind of games require no one wanted to step up and make the attempt it's even more of a black hole then your average game if it fails.
this game would not exist if people didin't eventually get tired of (EA???? I think) nickel and diming them for every DLC 3 times the price it's worth.
Okay that's fair. Designing a powerful virtual dollhouse is one thing, but you have to make it so the DarksydePhils of this world can get around it and become hooked. And hopefully whale it up a ton, like EA has done.
It's just that EA had this stranglehold on the genre for so long. Being EA, all they had to do to lose it was just keep being themselves as it happened with Cities Skylines.

There's really no City building competitor at this time with Skylines 2 out and sucking farts. Every other current city builder is narrowly focused and niched like Worker & Resources or Manor Lords.

If there is one country that I would want to make a better Sims, it would be unironically be Korea. Inzoi popped up on my radar last year when they released a limited time character creator, hope it's actually good and doesn't drop the ball post release.
He wasn't of any interest to the cartels until like season 3 or 4 and he doesn't become a big time player until season 5. The earlier seasons were just him falling through the meth business, barely keeping his head above water. Gus picks him up later only because of Gale's insistence, as he became obsessed with the purity of his product due to his immense chemistry autism. He's still just a cook and it isn't until his product becomes widely distributed through Gus's system that he becomes irreplaceable due to the quality of his product and the uniquely blue coloring (God tier marketing). The whole point of the 4th season is Gus trying to eliminate his irreplaceability so he doesn't need Walter anymore, as Walter still isn't even player, he's just a cook. It's only when he takes down Gus's empire that he's suddenly a big time player as he has that reputation and he has the product while there is suddenly a power vacuum in the meth business due to Gus's empire and the Juarez cartel collapsing.

The game was on my radar for a year now and from the description it sounds like they're aiming for a living world, think star citizen without the scams and lower in scope. Seems like they're gonna launch early access this year according to the trailer. If this isn't abandoned like every other game like this, it could have some nice potential, like kenshi. From their steam page
I keep trying to find a channel that showcases less known indies but the search engine on youtube is absolutely useless. Like it straight up doesn't "search" anymore it just feeds you whatever thinks you'd like. I'll look into steam once in a while see if I find something and I'll share.
