The ending was written like shit, and the lead up movie arc was horrid. Him needing to murder-suicide Kamiki to stop him was never properly established. There was Kamiki and the former idol group member that was obsessed with the memory of Ai. There was nothing established that made it seem like Kamiki had some great network of psychos that would help him get away with shit, it was a ass-pull explanation for the ending (and no, a last minute "I have people that will help me kill lolol" right before getting stabbed is not proper build up). Multiple chapters building up the movie as if it is the thing that will end Kamiki, but then, oh no we need something FAR more drastic because.... oh wait we only established Kamiki and the crazy ex-idol that seem to have no greater psycho network, welp shit Akasaka isn't interested in the story anymore and he wanted a murder-suicide end for Aqua so that's what is gonna happen.

it didn't really need to be established he was out for revenge since the word jump if you somehow missed that this was going to end badly i would like to sell you some prime land in the land of the maple leaf.

What network of killers? it was 3 people unless your referring to Aqua realizing that essentially Kamiki makes enough money / is popular enough / been in the industry long enough that people are happy to cover the horrible shit he does that a murder would not be that far off (almost like the story has been critiquing this kind of stuff from the start)

this is death note all over again time really is a flat circle.

The first ~15 episodes are, it starts to lose the thread after that IMO. But boy the extra characterization in that first batch of episodes. If I could somehow combine those into Brotherhood it'd be perfect, Hughes in particular is fantastic with the extra screen time.

here i come with more shitakes. I prefer the movie ending over the manga ending. (no not Conquerer of shambala the other one)

It's better all the way until the ending. Then, instead of a proper ending, we get a sequel hook for a continuation that never happens, and instead it gets wrapped up in a movie that doesn't have a satisfying ending either.

This is the main crime of Brotherhood. It rushes through the early episodes to get to the point where the stories diverge faster, and the Hughes storyline suffers as a result. It loses almost all of its emotional impact.

Yup but at the same time i can't blame it because literally every fan had those first 15ish episodes memorized retreading them would have made the reboot like an unnecessary cash grab.

Like seriously brotherhood skips the mines. No series in it's right mind would skip such strong characterization but brotherhood has to because it was already done.

Then again I'm just happy it didn't end up doing the Digimon 01 reboot "Hey guys I heard you like Our War Game so i'm going to put Our War Game right there in the first 3 episodes"

Seems like a romance anime set in the Hong Kong slum Kowloon, but has some sort of scifi/mystery/memory loss/time skip elements with a probably evil megacorp. Character designs have a vintage 80s anime style and the main female character is 100% my type. Maybe some vtubers will copy the style hmm..


None of the other new shows so far have impressed except maybe Sword of the Demon Hunter which had some nice fight scenes.


Maybe Anne Shirley if you're interested in the Anne of Green Gables books.


There are still a ton of new shows that haven't aired yet, hope a few more are worth watching.

Anything that has Kawloon in the title or as a setting is always full of some supernatural shit it's more or less what the location is known for (like Atlantis being underwater)

Ive yet to see something out do the portrayal in Shadowrun HongKong tho.

Honestly if you played Disco Elysium Revachol as seen in that game is pretty close.

Watched for the Female MC, stayed for the underlying sci-fi/mystery aspect. Based from what I've read online though the anime will have an original ending compared to the source material.

Guilty Gear Duel Rulers is out with episode 1.

Seems to take place directly after Strive everyone fucked off doing their own thing.

New character is going to be trash i can already tell the one possible saving grace is if they make that the point something Sin needs to learn that even people with sad backstories can still be in the wrong I do hope that's the direction it's going.

I do kinda like how they shoved Ky and Dizzy into a fridge though. Ky made a choice and presumably one they are both fine with using the Thunderseal to trap them both before Necro can rampage and kill and Sol immediately going "yeah Ky did this it's probably fine"

Jonny is there as well which leads me to believe this s a story telling choice and not just "put away all the cool characters for the new oc" because he's pretty cool and in character

Rem and Elphelt show up briefly and Baiken right at the end. Heck Ky and Dizzy even got a pseudo fairytale version of their meeting at the beginning which i thought was well done enough.

TLDR:Not gonna be anime of the year but anyone who appreciates guilty gear can probably get their time's worth the only real flaw so far is walmart Daisuke doing the theme but just mute it and play story teller or six black heavens guns or smell of the game and it will be fine.
