I counted 375 gift memberships so far, and I'm pretty sure it's only showing a set amount of supas and gifts at once so there's definitely more. She has 280 viewers right now. What actually happens to gift memberships in excess of viewership, do they just get held until a new viewer comes in or something?

I keep seeing names alternate between Onyx Jaguar and Nice Hat so I think there are too many gifts for the system to catch up and as soon as people enable gifting they are getting them. At least my guess

Pretty sure it only appears in live chat after someone gifts a membership. It's on a channel-by-channel basis.

I know you don't need to be actively viewing a stream to get a gifted membership from it if you have gifts enabled, although I don't know quite what happens when memberships have just been enabled for the channel and only people watching the stream can have enabled them.
