There's quite a few reasons for it but one of the most notable is that women in general don't back down in arguments, especially in relationships. Men will often just let their partner win the argument even if they know they're in the right because they don't want to deal with an hour long yelling match. Now take two women arguing and neither is willing to back down in the argument. Add in that women are generally not taught the lessons that men usually get about not hitting people and the consequences of doing so. Not to mention that woman on woman violence isn't as demonized as male on woman violence. So suddenly you have some amped up women willing to go full rushdown combo on each because neither is willing to deescalate and both have no restraint regarding getting physical.
