Please do clock me if I’m late to sharing this but apparently today Cover also held a press release that talked about the recent string of graduations.

I only go on that thread to laugh at dumb journos, in general us Holokeks don't have anything to worry about when it comes to external threats. Cover will destroy itself before anyone else destroys it.

Waiting for the eventual Miguel Lawsuit and Sora Birthday stream

This has been in consideration before, I remember this exact slide from a couple of years ago.

Nice writeup, I do think people tend to act like Cover targets their oshis and fails on purpose rather than just being like a huge rigid machine where bending the rules to benefit certain situations is not allowed and each thing depends on like a dozen people so unless you really push for it it will just get lost in the shuffle.

The asset count doesn't even include the JPs, IDs and Stars, and that does bring to mind the fact that a lot of people seem to think EN exists in a vacuum, or that they don't share the same resources as everyone else higher up. It happens a lot when it comes to performances and concerts, some have questioned why they take so long to produce ignoring that events have increased massively in frequency with the new studio, a lot of people seem to resent the JPs for having more events even when there are more than double the JPs in the company. Actually take the time to count every 3D project that gets produced and you will realize that the studio is likely booked year-round and working at near capacity already, Cover didn't slow down on the debuts just for funsies, there's an obvious capacity and logistics cap on things.
I think that the issue is less that Cover is perceived to be "targeting" talents, and more that it is repeatedly missing its own targets for project completion. Both Kiara and Mumei had large projects that were originally supposed to be completed by a certain time, and then were delayed. In Kiara's case, this cost her the participation of Mumei, Fauna and Gura, and in Mumei's case it cost her the 1M wish. I'm guessing there are problably plenty of other projects that we don't hear about where this also happened.

In light of this, I'm actually encouraged to hear that they are slowing down new talent hires. I don't really think we need 5 more EN talents or 3 more ID talents or whatever, if they can't even figure out how to consistently meet production schedules for their existing ones. Hopefully they can iron that out (hire more ppl, outsource studio time, whatever) before they resume adding talents.

They don't currently need more front end talent - what they severely need is a boost on their back-end staff. "1000 projects" in a fucking year is actually insane if you think about it considering that on their own slide, they list their current employee numbers at "679".

It may come out of "one talent sees another and they become interested" but I cannot discount the agency telling them "hey guys can you please maybe play?" and some of them said "yeah why not".
I think its a combination of both, some of them had personalized clothes even before login into the game and others had to do it on stream

Here Riona just tried the basic clothes and the sandbox mode instead of the usual fan interaction of others or hand drawn stamps and clothes
Also i heard a homo is also going to do a Holoearth stream

Seems like a nice person but no matter what her voice just isn't captivating. Kinda of a win story in a roundabout way as her passion is game dev

So here, she hit 1mil Jan 26 2024 and her birthday is August 4th. That's ~ 8 months.
Matsuri hit hers June 1st 2021. Her Million wish was a stage, happened Jul 22, 2022. So over a year for something way simpler then a 3D model.
Let's look at Holoen:
Kiara - May 30 2021. Wish - Jun 11 2022 Dirndl 2D costume. Over a year
Calli - Jan 25 2021. Wish - April 1st 2023 Sheriff 2D outfit. Over 2 years
Gura - October 22, 2020. Wish - May 1 2025 assuming Atlantis 3D model. 4+ years
Ina - May 27 2021. Wish - ??
Ame - Feb 11 2021. Wish - November 10 2021 Paladins announcer pack. 1 month for a sponsored voice pack
Bae - Dec 12 2024. Wish - ??
Kronii - October 3 2024. Wish - ??
Pretty obvious considering Kiara and Calli's pipelines that a 3D model wouldn't be done in time.

Why would Cover work on something before the milestone?

So she wanted a 3d outfit, stage that might be semi-custom and potential English perms? That's a lot.

Mumei would have had her wish fulfilled if she stayed. They worked on the outfit for an unknown period of time so maybe Cover was reluctant to change course and give her a different wish. Not sure why you think Cover stealth stops work when: Vesper got a new model before leaving, Magni got a new model before leaving, Gura debuted her 3D model before leaving, Chloe got new 2D hairstyles and Coco got her purple dragon 1mill 2D costume after announcing their graduations.

Anyways for "fun" here are all the EN talent assets added between 2024 and when she graduated - April 25 2025

Ironmouse

Looks like Kiara alone has her beat.
Feel free to say that getting a model is bigger then just outfits but Cover's goal is the interchangeability of assets between outfits. Also feel free to "but Mumei" forever I suppose.
If you want someone to blame here they are - https://note.cover-corp.com/n/n34d291d0cdf3?magazine_key=m70686802a00a. Mr. T, S and H fucked Mumei over. Pretty sure Mr. H is Shigeki Hayashi so write away - https://cover-corp.com/en/contact. Include those catbox files.
Your Gura timeline is a bit off. If it were a million wish it probably would have been her 3rd or 4th (which is still a few years ago). Comparing 2d model timelines to to 3d outfit timelines is apples and oranges, and yes, there's a very good chance that a lot of those were delayed too, but there's probably plenty of cases where the models are done on time and aren't revealed for other reasons, like the talent holding off to wait for an event or season (IRyS makes a big deal about her outfits fitting certain seasons and doesn't want to release things out of season). Conflating "a 3d outfit, stage that might be semi-custom and potential English perms", is the classic gamer trope of "Why are they making skins when they should be working on character balance!", as if the artists are the ones studying ranked play trends and coding.
The simple fact is; we know 100% for sure she was disappointed that she couldn't do her chosen birthday theme because of that model not being able to be done in time, and we know 100% for sure that the 3d model was then delayed until after graduation. That gives us a solid timeframe with no need for rrat-ing to invent other issues.

I never claimed she was the only one who got told "We were wrong, it will take longer", it's that she explicitly said, "They told me it wouldn't be done for my birthday" (just over 6 months). She was then later told, "Actually it will take double the original time that we told you", at which point she said that it wouldn't be done by graduation, 15 months from the request date.

Taking everything at face value, that means they tell the talent internally that the pipeline for a 3d model takes ~8+ months and, in her case, it was delayed it to double of that original timeline later on. Maybe other talents get those same delays, in fact it's likely that they do, but we don't know because as far as I am aware this is the most specific case we have of event dates and clear talent statements.
That's the point, no rrats needed. Everyone likes Kiara's idea of "If I ever leave, you will know exactly why", but for right now this is among the most detailed information that exists.
That's why it's valuable information, every time some other talent makes vague complaints about things being late or their projects not being ready on time, this gives an idea of what's happening behind the scenes.

So with those timelines and delays in mind, it's interesting to read this:
All this discussion of asset production timeline is actually pretty relevant to that Shigeki Hayashi interview article. He goes over the "timeline" briefly in one of the questions:

Granted, he's probably talking about this in a more recent context in lieu of all the process improvement and staff hirings they've done. Also important tidbit about that interview is he mentions that the department is currently handling "1000 projects a year, both big and small":

You would assume things like models (2d or 3d) would be considered 'assets' in this scenario because they are definitely not 'show production', but it's obvious that they don't take 2-3 months to make (for a live2d specifically I'm sure that would be rushing the artist, even ignoring every other step in the process).
That makes me think that new models are atypical assets with a longer, unstated production time, and the assets that 'typically take about 2 to 3 months' are things like the swimsuit/santa 3d outfits that are essentially cut and paste, or maybe 2d toggles like the 'holding mascot' type of thing, or static art for stuff like merch and promos.

"Typically" is a nice word here. Like "average". With 1000projects the typical project probably takes as much time as stated.
I'd wager outfits, regardless of dimension, just take massively longer. For once cuz of the third parties involved and second priorities.
3d fes Outfits e.g. will always have preference.

I probably just regurgitated you but I'm to lazy to delete

This whole situation is rather strange: allegedly Ame flew to Japan to record number for Kiara's birthday. She returned for a month back home and now she is back to Japan. I am not sure what is going on - perhaps she is part of the big project, which will happen in summer? Or she is there for personal reasons?

Hrad-hard copium, but maybe she lays groundwork for her return in some capacity?

Mumei said she plans to visit at least one per year. It's May, so it's a good time to travel back there if Ame wants to do the same thing. That said, if Cover has paid any attention to the internal workings of their company, they'd understand Ame probably has the most fundamental insights & ability to communicate that from a talent point of view. Rratting, but it suggests to me the next EN generation is in Japan right now and Ame was brought over to help acclimate them into the company.

I know that she might not come back, But at a slim chance that she does I can see her being involve in some events like New Years or EN events but not on streaming duties.

I have a feeling there'll be X thing that has a (feat. Ame) as a regular occurrence 1-2 times per year. She clearly likes being Ame, but she also doesn't want to be full time Ame.

I wonder how much she knows of the old expanded universe.

Cover of Heir to the Empire (Japanese Version). I'm going to guess she's read at least the Zahn trilogy.

The PowerPoint PDF is actually more interesting this time around as it's different from their typical quarterly earnings reports/releases and more of a primer of what Cover is and their business and revenue growth/paths are for prospective investors reading it who may not know what a fucking vtuber is (on top of their usual quarterly numbers)

It also provides a clear leadership structure for us non-Nips - outlining Yagoo and a bunch of other execs and what they're in charge of and what their CVs are prior to Cover:
View attachment 98155
I think the one name here to keep an eye out on is their Senior VP in charge of "Vtuber Production" - Shigeki Hayashi. @NeneLOVE posted an interview article on him recently where he outlines his department's work on projects/production with the talents:

Also, and there's some pretty juicy tidbits in the appendix section, where they outline what their risks and counter-measures are:
View attachment 98156
Peep the first one "Dependence on video distribution platforms operated by other companies" where they outline their counter-measures as:

I know the pros/cons of Cover developing a streaming platform of their own has been discussed here in this forum in the past and but I think this is the first, concrete statement from an official source that they are actually seriously looking into it and that it is actually under development.

I'm still skimming through the doc but I'll add/update more if there are any other salient points.

They've mentioned that platform risk I believe in every release since going Public and talked about building their own since their IPO. The hope was to have HoloEarth up and running, then hit that new Tech Wave with "Metaverse" content. That absolutely didn't happen (thanks Facebook for screwing up that tech), but they're still building out different experiences.

As side point, but Yagoo has a legitimately impressive CV. He's not just some random nobody Game Dev that made it big. He's a talented engineer that also built up quite a good career skillset to be able to manage a fairly large company. He's an actual, massive success story. But, hilarious enough, he's Mister "Sou Desuyo Ne", Best Girl, occasional Merch Model and weird company mascot. Of course, I think Suisei might be the actual top ranking official in the company.
