Vtuber unions is a dumb idea. Unlike VAs, vtubing is a "profession" where your work is almost entirely your own responsibility. You can't blame not being given a role for not being able to work for example.

If you have the clout or talent to become a big vtuber then yes, you don't need a corporation - start your own company with 1 or 2 employees to help you with shit. Otherwise hire the services of an agency with a manager or something to deal with business related tasks. If you want the support or structure a corporation gives then you're gonna have to pay for it one way or another but plenty of successful indies show that it isn't necessary.

Coco's graduation was shocking because it was the first one I saw. Rushia's termination was a dumbfounding shitshow. Sana's was sad but after that I didn't pay attention to Holostars so their departure was whatever. This lullled me into a sense of security that made the graduation wave of 2024 hit me like a brick. It was Shion's that immunized me, the first that made me go "not again," but Mumei's is giving me the pit in my stomach I felt with Fauna.

Whenever Sana pops back up, it's pretty clear why she left. Her priorities were just else where. She was actually a very good streamer with a great eye for the production side of it all, but she'd rather not be front and center. It's the "Musician that wears a mask" issue. There's plenty of people that are good at music that don't want the spotlight and don't wear it well.

Coco's graduation is actually what drug me into the rabbit hole. All of my feeds got blown up by the announcement, so I was curious what was going on. Those shitty meme reviews were some damn legendary stuff. And now we're here.

It's never fun because a lot of it is simply "life happens" and people burn out/other objectives. Mumei's was clearly on the way for a while. Her health issues clearly have been getting to her, while at the same time she wasn't ever one that suggested she was going to be a lifer at this. After a few years, it's pretty clear who's going to be in this until they physically can't, but Mumei was likely to be gone after she finished college. Doesn't change the effect, and I'm also not sure she'll fully resurrect. It was special while it was. The Towl Rants were damn hilarious.
