Why in god's name did I think watching a woman play a Sonic game would be a good idea?

I have watched enough of Magni's streams to understand that Sonic is not for me and that even watching a dude play it just hurts my head. If I see a woman play it I'd probably have a brain aneurysm.

This is the part that bothers me about youtubers/streamers being hacks about Sonic in general. No shit some of the games like '06 and Rise of Lyric are broken and a bit of a mess, but the "Sonic was always bad" narrative is an exaggeration at its most charitable and straight-up false at its least.

The visuals and from what I can tell of the story it's not awful, and some things look ok, but if it's as force scripted as she's making it out to be in motion that would make it suck a lot. I'm not against linear gameplay, I just hate when it forces you into a dance fight on rails.

It's the least-linear Sonic game we've had to date - the only linear sections are the 1-2 minute Cyberspace levels which are based on Unleashed/Generations etc. gameplay where the appeal is boosting through and mastering twitch reactions to the obstacles to get faster runs down. There's scripted elements during the more show-y sections of these like the loops just to stop you going flying off the screen when the camera moves, but she was complaining about that because it wouldn't let her intentionally go the wrong way for... some reason.

To be frank, the game looks pretty average and not terrible, but nothing special, technical issues, and asset flip jokes aside, meaning it's easily in the top 10 best Sonic games.

I'm not a fan of games hard locking you from being able to go back or do what you want. It's also annoying when they do invisible walls for no reason, especially when it's above a gate you can clearly jump and get over, and there are plenty of ways to make it no just a wall. They could just go the Gears of War or Borderlands route where there's something that kills you if you stray too far, or they could play into the cyberspace theme by making it have a laser grid extending past or a force field you see when you touch it.

Sonic is a series, especially in the modern game design space, that isn't that appealing for most people gameplay wise unless you're some kind of autist who enjoys doing things repetitively to improve at it. Sonic is a fun series to play in an arcade-y kind of way where you go for the best time through trial and error mastery of the level design and playing with the game's physics and mechanics (assuming these things aren't dog shit, which sometimes they are).

You're pretty much intended to play levels multiple times to really get your value from it, as opposed to modern games where they usually have one overall good playthrough that you may never play again from start to finish. This is why Sonic since the 3D era tends to pad its game with a lot of the infamous crap it is ironically known for (Werehog, Big fishing, treasure hunting, playing Heroes' levels 14 4 different times, 11 Shadow the edgehog endings, etc), because 2000s-2010s era gamers seemed to be trending to want long 20 hour singular playthrough of an entire game at minimum while Sonic without the fluff is more like a 3-4 hours full playthrough that can still be fun to play 10, 20, or even 30 times depending on how hard you want to go at it.

Playing the same 2-3 minute level until you make it a 1-2 minute level is the true intended Sonic experience and everything else is padded fluff, and when the game isn't shit that can be a fun process. Although speedrunning Sonic is janky as Sonic tends to have clipping bugs because Sonic's physics and speed tend to break things eventually, but I doubt most people care about actually playing that.

I'm glad Pippa's refunding Sonic because 60$ sonic game triggered my "STOP giving her money" instincts. I haven't played a 3d Sonic since the dreamcast one, which was alright. I think it looses it's identity when not 2d though. Obviously I have no idea if this sonic game is good based on Pippa's stream though It's too bad she won't touch Elden Ring if she wants to jump off all the cliffs and kill her character trying to sequence break. That's too bad she crapped on BOTW. Edit: and then went on a 30+ minute rant to shit it on it vaguely with visual aids. But I don't watch her for game reviews.

Nina x Table was also brought up in the Namirin stream from last night (which is weird because I haven't heard about it in years, and now I'm seeing it multiple times in the same week). The first time she saw that scene she didn't understand what was happening. (I don't know whether I did either, and I am older, but then again I never really got into Geass and only watched a few episodes, so I was not in the loop when jokes about it were flying around)

I don't see it any different that someone like Tamaki the character is a boy so I'm gonna refer to Tamaki as a boy tho in a now deleted Video comment section Zen said they have never identified as any gender preferring to just call his model Zen so I'll just default to girl cause that's what the model looks like

I think the a problem with Zen is that he tries to make people believe that he is actually female. The character is not trans, the guy controlling the TTS is not trans, he's just a grifter who knows that he gets more money if people believe he's a woman.

I'm not sure if I said this before or if I deleted my draft without posting; Obviously she's been working out and dieting and stuff, but I think a big part of the reason people say she looks fat is because of her normal clothes being so baggy and ill-fitting. Like, I used to watch What Not To Wear a loooong time ago, a person who dresses like a slob (for instance, myself) is going to look like a slob regardless of their body, but even someone with a not-perfect body can look good with the right clothes.
You can tell in this clip that despite being her typical black-everything outfit, it fits better than some of the other stuff she's worn recently and she looks better. Still got some meat on her bones, but by no means is she disgusting.

Good to get someone who in general likes their games than someone who kinda shit on them for the "lulz". Arin and GG hasn't been in my view for like 5 years at least. Literally thought they stop making videos. Doggo is a way better choice anyways.

Games that came before like shadow the hedgehog that were setup, series has been becoming stale and shitty, sega literally had no idea what to do to the series so much they gave hedgehog a gun. 06 itself is a punchline. Games after are sega repeating the same joke, games that are so shit and forgettable you actually forget about them right after you play. Google how many games there are on wii. "Sonic has always been bad" is not exxageration, its a fact and it mirrors the history of sega itself. Promising start with sega genesis games, lack of direction with sega 32x and cd games, last bang with dreamcast and adventure series, failure and mediocrity with everything that came after. And all because of japanese bureaucracy

What do you look for in a Vtuber's voice or other vocal characteristics? Edit: What do you consider good or an instant sell? Conversely, do you have vocal dealbreakers that can't be overcome with the Vtuber's stream presence?

I'm not really concerned about voice so much as content. Really childish voices like Remi from PC filter me hard though.
