My respect for you has taken a dip like an angsty teen jumping off a bridge.I'm curious. Why do some people here hate Twitch when it comes to watching vtubers? Is it just because they hate Twitch as a company, or because of their UI, or something else?
I ask because I'm kind of a convert to Twitch. It is an objectively awful platform when it comes to business practices, moderation, etc. But I like it for how it lets you feel an active part of the stream instead of a passive observer. I find watching vtubers on Youtube to be a lot duller than on Twitch. I'm not saying Twitch is better; they're equally bad in different ways, just that I'm surprised how quickly Twitch features have become an almost indispensable part of my watching experience that I feel deprived of on Youtube.
I'd like to point out today is the 10th anniversary of GamerGate, in which a bunch of people told the proto-Woke gamer press to go fuck themselves.
That is all.
Well, tomorrow is the Ides of Pride, after all.
It gets more relevant by the day.
Twitch ads make the site fucking unusable unless you're on desktop with the twitch adblocker (that one specifically because twitch ads are so aids nothing else works) or just get extremely lucky. That's the main crux of my ire, all the other bad things about Twitch are technically also true about Youtube but in different ways. Twitch is probably better for the chatter but I'm a lurker for the most part so shit like hype trains and stuff just clutter the chat and make things really ugly. That said, it's kind of a goldmine for melanated vtubers so it has that going for itI'm curious. Why do some people here hate Twitch when it comes to watching vtubers? For me it's irrelevant to vtubers. The video player on twitch is one of the worst in the industry, rivaled maybe only by crunchyroll. If your internet has even minor hiccups it self-explodes, it really likes to try multiple different resolutions at once, which results in it thinking you have shitty bandwith and switching to lowest resolution. It consistently buffers equally badly on 144p as on 1080p. Mid-stream ads are what finally pushed me off the platform back in the days when YT started to roll out the streaming, nothing on the ads is ever sold where I live therefore they are irrelevant to me and serve no purpose for advertiser, while pissing me off tremendously. Don't you like it when you watch moba, streamer gets into a team fight and entire fight is interrupted by an ad and you miss it entirely? Such a great viewing experience am I right? Then there is also chat culture, or rather lack thereof where people spam the same messages like mindless drones. The actual features that twich has related to chat are great, but I always felt they were not meant for huge chats or for streamer focused experience. For better or for worse, twich is streamer interacting with chat culture, where YT is watching a video and the fact that it's live is very secondary. Channel points with redeems, games including chat interaction to spawn monsters or help streamer, notifications are all something that on a technical level are impressive but I personally dislikeI'm curious. I like Twitch more than Youtube for streams, but the main issues I have with Twitch are no rewind feature and the constant attempts to kill adblockers to push Turbo. The main adblockers do usually get updated within 48 hours and you can just VPN to a country that doesn't have ads, but if you don't do that then you get up to 8 15+ second ads right after clicking on a stream. It really hurts the desire to check out new streams whenever the adblockers are down.I'm curious. Why do some people here hate Twitch when it comes to watching vtubers? what does this have to do with vtubers
Well, we lost several VTubers due to the current wokeness in the gaming industry (you know, the Wizard game) which stems from Gamergate. I think you can make the connection.what does this have to do with vtubers
Bros we just need to get YAGOO to tweet #gamergate2 it will work this time : (((( pls donate to my entropyI wish gamergate and everyone involved in its aftermath would disappear. Just vanish off the universe. The grifters, the professional victims, the journos, le epic 4chan memekangz. I really, really fucking wish this would happen.
You can continue discussion about Gamergate here:Well, we lost several VTubers due to the current wokeness in the gaming industry (you know, the Wizard game) which stems from Gamergate. I think you can make the connection.
Also, correction, it's the 9th year after Gamergate, not 10th. My bad. Don't judge me during PRIDE MONTH! HATERS!
A and B, though the culture on Twitch is also a factor as even if the vtuber themselves isn't balls deep in it, the random viewers who show up and make themselves known are. It's very hard to escape it; on YouTube it feels like each streamer establishes the tone of their stream and community, while Twitch has much more overlap from the raid culture, shared emotes, and influence from the most popular streamers on the platform. Memes, emote spam etc. are a baked-in part of the Twitch experience, and if you find that annoying you're going to have a bad time.I'm curious. I heard a lot of people complain about ads on twitch, but that seems to be location dependent.
I NEVER get ads. Not on desktop, not on mobile.
The Twitch viewer experience/chat interaction is much better IMO, but almost everything else is objectively worse. ESPECIALLY their video player/VOD system. And IMO, it'll be much easier for Youtube to fix their viewer experience issues rather than Twitch to fix their video player.....and everything else.

The chat experience is just so much better than Youtube though. Emotes are better and more people use the 3rd party apps, channel points can be used for interesting things depending on the streamer, and personally I feel like the chat on Twitch is more lively than Youtube.
How are you this ass-chafed about goober googles in the year of our lord 2023? Is this a Mundane Matt alt? Go push a boulder dudeWish in one hand, shit in the other. Guess which gets filled first?
