The version I see on Louis Roissman's video says ""(ii) charge back or offset such amounts against future Partner Earnings payable to you." Maybe there's some nuance there that I'm not aware of, or the drafting was careless and it wasn't what they meant, but the words "charge back" are in there. The full sentence of the terms says they will withhold against your future earnings. It says nothing about charging you back. Of course, YouTubers can't read.
That was my thought as well. A charge back is different from YouTube simply withholding earnings, that typically refers to the end user being able to get their money back on something they paid for. So how I read it is "if a YouTuber gets enough strikes for tos violations, people can get their money back for subs/gifted subs, which will be taken from their earningsThe version I see on Louis Roissman's video says ""(ii) charge back or offset such amounts against future Partner Earnings payable to you." Maybe there's some nuance there that I'm not aware of, or the drafting was careless and it wasn't what they meant, but the words "charge back" are in there.
my bad on the exact wording, but it seems clear to me that it means to "charge back [...] such amounts against future Partner Earnings", which means the worst they're doing is reaching into your AdSense account... which they already doThe version I see on Louis Roissman's video says ""(ii) charge back or offset such amounts against future Partner Earnings payable to you." Holy shit. I knew YouTube's new policies were getting a lot of grief over how bad they are but I had no idea it was this shitty. It really pisses me off too because YouTube and twitch have such a fucking monopoly on streaming, either place you go you have to deal with retarded rules like this written by troons. There is no chance this won't be weaponized by antis, and not just against vtubers but against any and all streamers who go against some retarded narrative expectation.
And because vtuber corps are notoriously skittish, even if an alt service like Rumble or Odysee or hell even Twitter started offering easy live game streaming with the same features, they wouldn't go for it because of the associated image with those sites.
Buckle up lads, looks like we are in for an era of sterile, neutered humor streams.
YT has always done this. If it determines that you have earned money you shouldn't have, it withholds your current or future revenue until it's made up the difference. Anyone here with a channel might recognize when videos randomly going to 0 income without being demonetized. It's just now in the terms instead of being secret.

Asmongold mentioned that potentially its because of people that viewbot to get ad hits and clicks to earn more money off their videos. While this is probably the most sane and intelligent reason for this to exist, I feel like its Youtube and they will start accusing people left and right of doing this. The version I see on Louis Roissman's video says ""(ii) charge back or offset such amounts against future Partner Earnings payable to you." Speaking of the abhorrent things that YouTube does, YouTube just reminded me that the dragon still exists and is currently streaming
I merely copied the link for you to share this cursed knowledge YT has decided to forcibly implant in my brain. I have no idea what this person is typing out in TTS nor any interest in watching this to find out.
Be sure to clean up afterwards mkay? The jannies don't get payed enough to have to deal with your excitement (they don't get paid at all)At this point I feel like there isn't a PL to be found and Kotoka was made in a laboratory to create the most Scuttle-core V-Tuber in existence. She sang my favourite song by my favourite artist on her first karaoke stream.
But yeah that setlist was ballsy in general. Huge range and none of the songs were easy. It was also nice that more or less none of the songs were the same overused Kanaria or Radwimps songs I'm accustomed to hearing in archived streams.
Nip corpos graduate all gaijins, go back to streaming solely on NND, all western corpos become sissies to their furry twitch overlords. (SUSAN'D ENDING|1 OUT OF 15 ENDINGS FOUND)View attachment 10741

Well, there are a couple of ways you can parse the sentence. One is "(charge back OR offest) such amounts against future earnings". The other is "(charge back) OR (offset such amounts against future earnings)". On the one hand, the first one that you've gone with flows better grammatically. But it leaves a problem: how do you "charge back" earnings that have not yet been transferred out? You can withold the funds, declare them to be offset if they're still in YT's control, etc., but you wouldn't typically call that a charge back. It raises the question of whether "charge back" means anything in the sentence that isn't duplicative of "offset".my bad on the exact wording, but it seems clear to me that it means to "charge back [...] such amounts against future Partner Earnings", which means the worst they're doing is reaching into your AdSense account... which they already do
All of this sounds like an opportunity for a vtuber-centric platform to be created, but the drawbacks are obvious enough as to why it hasn't been done already. I don't have proper solutions, I'm just talking shit on the internet, but at some point something has to give where content creators - not just vtubers - are fed up with YouTube's shit enough that *something* gets done about it outside of general platitudes. It may not be the easiest money to make, but aspiring ventures could take note of how YouTube will handle the very obvious backlash that they will receive from this policy.
To echo the poster above, the costs of serving live streaming are astronomical, and to pay for it you need one of three things: billionaire money (as Twitch), a world-class ad system (as YT... and even then they might make losses on streaming offset by their gargantuan video ads business), or vice money (as the porn sites and in latest news, the gambling sites)All of this sounds like an opportunity for a vtuber-centric platform to be created, but the drawbacks are obvious enough as to why it hasn't been done already. From what I remember, Tenma was the one that got all of the lewd art in PC, meanwhile Pippa had the highest amount of images, but not many lewds at all. Based off of looking through a couple boorus months and months ago. This is just a fun fact. Don't you fucking dare jerk off to your adopted little sister you degenerates.
