We've seen plenty of people who had a very different character in previous incarnations thrive in Holo and Phase. This is fundamentally an acting job, the top level people have the skills to adapt their character to what's required.

And I think that a vtuber who's looking to get into a corpo has their own career goals that are best met with one of these corpos and getting into the other is a poor substitute. A prospective vtuber applying at corpos shouldn't say, "I'm not succeeding with my Hololive talent applications, maybe Phase Connect will hire me instead." They should say, "this is what I want to do as a vtuber and streamer, and Phase Connect is best-suited for my career goals," or "I want what Hololive has to offer its talents and Phase Connect is not suitable for what I want."

This is what most of them do though, we have seen dozens and dozens of application stories of people who admit they just applied to every corpo that would take applications at the time in the hopes that any of them would say yes. This is including people which have ended up getting in mind you. At this point its more left to the corpos themselves to have a sense of who would fit best within their environment and corporate structure.

Nyana did so much in the less than 2 years she's streamed, is there a single upcoming talent still out there who is a self-starter to her level? In achievements she compares to people like Obake PAM or Filian, and at her audience size and resources that's actually crazy. I'm not surprised she feels like she needs corpo resources to go further.

I do think Phase is a company where you get in as much as you put in. People like Rie and Lumi are basically running their own music careers. Pippa and Dizzy and Runie are building personal brands around high effort streams. The environment is permissive enough that they can basically do what they want without asking permission first, within guidelines. Full corpo events are still run mostly by talent sweat and effort. I could see their management style working for her in that she could still organize her own thing just with a few extra hands to help.

It's not like I can't see Nyana in Hololive though. People who grind but still have ideas are the ones that have thrived, just look at where Biboo and Mori and Gigi are these days. It doesn't feel like Holo's style of hire but I can see someone like her with an absolutely standout audition tape and pushing through the rest by sheer force of will. Every single gen Hololive gambles on one or two gems in the rough, and out of all the sub-500-viewer vtubers out there, I think Nyana has one hell of a resume.

I just hope it's not Brave selling the fast 3D and concerts smoke and mirrors, or anyone smaller selling a product they can't deliver.

Up to a point, but I don't think everyone has to want to do something unprecedented or reinvent vtubing. If someone just wants to stream to a big audience and be part of a group of talented people doing the same, I don't think that's a bad reason to apply to either corp.

According to what i heard it was a bit retarded how she handled things, she didn't have managers or staff so every sponsorship, every logístics problem, she had to orchestate everything. So yeah they wall she hit was self imposed. I agree that most indies with sub 50 views do not need a manager or staff, but at the point she was at, she sure needed help.
