Dreamworks just existing. I get what your trying to say but SPITE fueled businesses can and often do in fact work simply because the spite is usually directed as a niche not yet filled.

Businesses made to spite someone else can work (my favourite example is Lamborghini) but if we were to argue that Socks was borne out of hate, who do they hate and why? It seems more to me that Socks saw a successful industry and decided that the only thing wrong with it was that he wasn't making money from it himself. Which is why there's no clear vision or long-term objective for the business.
