Idle thought before I go to bed, just kind of struck me out of nowhere and now I can't get it out of my head. So I'll inflict it on everyone here.
If you could take a vtuber talent and put them in another vtuber's skin (aka model), who would you choose? Notably, I'm curious if there are any talents out there people think would fit some models better than their current talents.
This isn't about vtubers being miscast or bad fits for their models, in a 'so and so would do way better than that dumb bitch' kind of way. Just some lingering curiosity I can't shake about alternate universes where some people just got different skins to wear.
Its an old story, but back before Holo Myth debuted Kiara and Calli first wanted to swap models.
There is a video out there of Kiara talking in callis model and the other way around. I would post it but PC issues still. But its very very weird, straight up uncanny to see them swapped.
I am glad they didn't swap because while I think Kiara would do fine in Callis model and lore, I don't think Calli would work nearly as well in Kiaras role. She certainly wouldn't have taken the weird Cerberus of a character concept Kiara is (Phoenix - Warrior - Fast Food) and run with it in the way Kiara has. Its very funny that Kiara chose fast food of those 3 to hone in on.
And it just works out great how it is now: The mall goth girl gets a dark edgy design and the cheerful girl who stubbornly clings to her Idol-dreams is an immortal phoenix.
Also just speaking lore wise, but death falling in love with an immortal girl she has to reap over an over again over the ages makes for such a great setting.
Thinking about it more broadly, I realize its hard to name mismatches in Holo. More often, the cast is surprisingly well fitting despite we know that the girls don't get to decide everything about the character or lore.
But I think Nerissa would look better in something more slutty ironically. I am thinking more in the direction of Choco-sensei or so. She doesn't have that goth aura that makes shiori almost perfect for her design.
Someone I see a lack of common thread between how they are and their lore is Noel. But her casual outfit is great and totally is something Canan would wear isn't it.
I think Haachama and Shiori would be an interesting swap to see where I think it could work both ways.
I don't really look at other vtubers and think, Oh Kiara should have looked like this. At most I'll say that Kiara should have an outfit similar to that. Like Ririkas outfit is great and I think Kiara too could rock whatever that style is.
