With Gumpai the writing was on the wall from the beginning. She's a super menhera who the entire appeal for those who don't care about the GFE is watching her consistently make the shittiest decisions possible. Her growing to 3-view status at all was pretty surprising. She got shilled cause she did deranged shit not so much cause she was likable.
Most of the indies that get shilled here that I've checked out are pretty chill and are usually pretty drama free but I get wanting to stick to known quantities like Hololive when sifting through the indie scene is like trying to find a needle in a shit-covered haystack.

The guy should have at least contacted a mod or gumpai herself if he was selling any kind of merch on her discord channel. He's free to do whatever if he was selling it in a convention booth/his own twitter. But it was in HER discord.
For example most hololive fancord I know of require permission before posting your own youtube clips because it counts as self-advertising, much less selling stuff. It is a rule that is rarely ever enforced, but it's in their rules list nonetheless, and I actually asked for permission before posting my clips. Unpermitted self-advertising is pretty much a rule on every public discord.
I'm very sure if you go on to any Phase Connect discord and start advertising/selling merch in their #general without permissions, mods there would ban you in a heart beat. And from the looks of it Gumpai wasn't even the one commissioning the plushies, it was one of her fans (that has been long banned lulw)

Saya has really been growing on me lately. She's a very fun personality, cute, a little bit bratty and cheeky, wears her heart on her sleeve, and always really sincere and appreciative of her chatters and audience. My only two critiques is her phone always being dead so we get a png of a dog instead (she always picks cute dogs though), and the spotty streaming schedule, but if one of my main complaints is that she's not streaming enough, she's must be doing something right.
