So last sunday (10th November) I went to the Comic Frontier 19, a comic-market event in Indonesia that usually act as the prime hotspot for all-things weeb stuff, including fan-merchs of vtubers like hololive and nijisanji. I mostly just enjoyed the time there (and yes, I gave cosplayer a gun, as best as I could because I wasn't really planning to do it though I still carried one just in case), but I got tempted enough to badger one or two people at the event about the whole holofans vs nijifans thingie:
So I went to a random hololive fanmerch booth, asked if the booth has any issues from 'nijifans'. Booth owner said nothing, kinda knows about it but so far nothing happened to them
Then I asked a random Kotoka cosplayer whether there's people that say stuff to her for cosplaying as Kotoka. She said that nothing happened (at least openly), and that despite knowing how bad Nijisanji's rep has gotten she still following for Kotoka.
And then I asked a bunch of niji cosplayers on my way back home and I'm pretty sure I botched it up but the answer's the same. Nothing happened.
Guess the nijisisters paranoia is just paranoia for the sake of paranoia, at least in ID.
Aside of that, I was able to see the people behind ex-NijiID that are making their own utaite group TypeXBeat (they're doing great, all things considered!), took a glance on not-Iofi and not-Moona as they preparing to leave the event for the day, stumbled at some HoloID fans (including one that has a Moona Itasha) going about how glad they're able to look at their oshii's roommate and then talking to an italian foreigner who also there to look at them roommates (after watching the Hololive concert on different event yesterday).
I'll find a way to put the vtuber cosplay photos into a gallery, but any recommendations other than Imgur?
