What is weird to me is i distinctly remember videos of Japanese dance troupes performing directly Infront of shrines and or temples.

maybe I'm misunderstanding the context or something but I'm pretty sure blasting AK48 and busting a move is just as disrespectful as anything non natives tourists do

oh no I know THAT context. I meant context for why the dancers using the tori gates as poles is ok but foreign tourists doing the same is not ok.

what Somali did is not even close to comparable or ok no matter which country it was in.

When groups do that they have permits. You can't even perform on the streets without a permit in Japan. Not that it's very hard to get one, the city hall will give you one with a set time and locale to perform given enough proof that you are an indie musician (the easiest case), but takes a bit of time.
