It's a common thing with VShojo in general. Sometimes it seems like weeks go by without Matara or Henya doing a solo stream. At least you'll usually get an hour or two at the beginning of streams where it's just chatting by themselves.

I like collabs (and most the people those two specifically collab with) but the atmosphere is very different versus solo streams, it's not that I really care about my chats being read either as I'm not a frequent chatter.

What exactly "warrants" a post that belongs in General then cause I don't see anything consistent with these examples? Even going through the past few pages, it's the usual mix of shilling clips/streams, discussion and random shitposts. And usually with a vtuber that "belongs" in one of the other threads too.

TBH though, I'm more asking just for the sake of it. Like @electronic elephant said, who requested the move and why doesn't really matter; the fact that it got approved is the hilarious part. Can't really say I care much anymore after thread split was confirmed permanent.

There is none your correct. General and Off Topic have essentially become the same thread. Especially now that we have too many dedicated threads that there's almost zero reason for general to exist.

I'm not going to care if I see a post linking like 2 streams that are about to happen or someone sharing a tweet. When @SpringKusa goes full sperg and drops like 8 tweets with barely any commentary about Kiara or you post a big whole wall of text of about Subaru, I'm just going to send the report.

What really defines this thread from the general thread is it involves meta commentary about the forum and off-topic discussions that have absolutely nothing to do with vtubers. Take Sawa's whole rant about Illinois. That initial post is fine in the general thread as opposed to the small indie thread because it is a notable event with a vtuber openly declaring they're going to break a law and risk an arrest because of an incoming law due to her homeschooling her kids. However the later posts and discussion purely focused on Illinois and homeschooling belonged in this thread because the conversation veered away from Sawa and more about Illinois and the American public school. This thread basically acts as a containment thread for the general thread.

Even the part in the post mentioning her album was about an album that released 3 weeks ago.

So what about this? The general thread is supposed to be for exactly what it was for before. There's no justification for moving posts if the poster preferred to use the general.

The general thread will remain in existence for now. Those of you who prefer that kind of atmosphere are free to keep using it.

Can't use live posting, so you have to shit up the split threads. Can't use general, so you have to fuck around thread jumping those same threads too.
