Still think guilty crown is leagues above the usual generic fantasy slop or death game.

but yes the Hitler turn is hilarious and ends way too soon (why do Notzi's always get the best uniforms?) Feels like some weird blend of Akira Sword Art Online and deadman wonderland?
Guilty Crown was an original Production IG work. That was kind of the oddity of it, to start. It was an obvious Code Geass send up with a touch of NGE, but with a lot of the early 2010s trappings. Technically, it's a PTSD Protagonist story. Realistically, it was some great visuals & amazing sound work put to what was a clearly "written at the last minute" amount of story. Given the entire plot of the series is in the major songs, it seems like they had an outline and an ending, then had to try to fill in 2 seasons. Ran out of money and ideas, so you end the first season on a break point/ready to take on the world... and then they shove everyone into a walled city and go all Xmen Eugenics in a school out of nowhere. Because anime writers cannot process not having a chunk of a series set in a school.

It also didn't help that only interesting characters are Hare, Dan and Segai. Everyone else has the personality of a cardboard box. They also killed Hare off at the wrong beat, so Shu can't even get a redemption arc from going full Khan on things. They just got bored of running a Darwinian Caste System and move the story onto something else. If you haven't seen the show, yes, it's that much whiplash.

BASED FUCKING BOARD FR

god i love guilty crown it was one of those animes you look back and say yup those were the good days

plus it introduced me to supercell and egoist as a whole

really 2010-2018 was my own golden age of anime its where all of my favorites came from

Between Bakemonogatari and Guilty Crown, you pretty much have the genesis of the Utaite scene. Guilty Crown is a deeply influence piece of the proto-Vtuber scene, even if the series is absolutely trash.

I hadn't realized that Guilty Crown ran at the exact same time as Mirai Nikki (Future Diary). I'd forgotten that. Mirai is, also, absolute trash. But the original creator absolutely knew that and that's what makes it a much better show. Also, A+ ending.

What's with all these "getting stuck in a cave" videos? There's like ten different channels all using the same visuals probably telling the same stories of people trapped in caves, but dramatized. I know it's AI slop, but they feel like they've popped out of nowhere
There are some good channels out there who focus on disasters and other 'horror' stories, but it doesn't surprise me to hear the TTS reading a script has gone from Reddit Posts to other things and can easily churn out.

If you're interested, check out Fascinating Horror, one of my favorite channels in that sector - https://www.youtube.com/@FascinatingHorror

"Why is no one buying comics anymore?"
Although 2023 saw a drop relative to preceding years, this was entirely due to 2021 and 2022 being fuckoff huge outliers in terms of sales, with 2023 being a return to the norm. Sort of, because comic sales in 2023 dropped less than entertainment media overall, and it appears that by and large, comics managed to hold on to a sizable chunk of the new customers that covid generated.

Worth noting that manga (counted separately by the industry) experienced exactly the same covid boom comics did, but then fell off harder in 2023.

eh bare minimum the comics 0 sales will get them fired.
Lol, thinking that the people that write or publish this garbage will get any sort of accountability for their poor retail sales. The only accountability that will ever come is if DC downsizes or closes entirely (admittedly extremely likely), but when that happens, I'd love to see the "shot/chaser" memes where people will be bemoaning the loss of their jobs juxtaposed against them being responsible for shit like this.

lack of accountability internally won't save them DC being so protective over it's image (specifically how popular Harley is because they essentially have nothing else at this point) combined with not being one of their stable of protected writers i don't see them surviving the backlash.

Hell Bruce Timm got shit for doing fetish shit to Harley and people actually like him same with the killing joke movie over Barbera Gordon though i suspect that was more Azzarello.

Seriously DC fire Timm or at least stop treating him like a sacred cow hes huffing his own farts because he thinks his job is never on the line.

edit:the only thing that might save them is DC cares less about flop comics then it does flop movies.
