I'm just fucking sick of this shit now. We're at the point where people who've grown up seeing retweets as currency are starting their own businesses and all they know is how to get social media arsepats rather than to create anything sustainable in the long term, and it's only going to get worse as these vtubers who buy into it keep reciting all their talking points about IP ownership and talent freedom and transparency.
I despise virtue signalling. I especially despise virtue signalling when it frames your low aspirations as preferable to more ambitious organisations; if they're not taking cuts of Twitch subs and donations they're presumably only eating into merch and sponsorships, so realistically they're never gonna be able to fund more than just some guy to email sponsors for you because you can't be arsed to do it yourself.

I try not to politisperg here too much but frankly all this just shows the socialist (soft-communist) ideas zoomers run with have made running a successful business and appeasing the crowd borderline impossible. Anything that benefits the company's interests even slightly is demonised; holding (company-purchased!) IP as leverage is bad, taking a cut of revenue is bad, discouraging self-destructive content is bad etc..
It's not exclusively a vtuber thing either - if you're wondering why GameGrumps need to desperately clickbait and shill their Patreon for cash despite having five million subs and being a simple Let's Play channel starring just two on-screen personalities, it's because Arin opened a fuckton of nothing-jobs for LA "creatives", and seemingly refuses to lay any of them off despite them lazing around in his office costing him money all day.
Obviously there's limits and we've seen enough black corpos fall apart to know how genuinely evil some CEOs and managers can be, but you have to be the bad guy sometimes if you want shit to be sustainable - which is getting harder and harder when teenagers with no business knowledge or experience are the loudest voices commenting on it.

Their self conscious that their favorite gen is the least talked about and most overlooked, they are neither the OG (MYTH) or the new hotness (JUSTICE and ADVENT to a lesser extent). They are also seen by some people (not me, i like most of them except the clock) as a wet flop because they didn't live up to MYTH's numbers.
