Which is kinda nonsensical considering NONE of Sony's groups is particularly popular, maybe they just didn't wanna bother keeping international groups or smth or maybe they purchased Prism thinking it would be the next HoloEN by some divine miracle and then regretted wasting the money.
Prism will be gold standard of closing vtuber corpo. They're even finishing all MV projects etc, actively spending more corpo money than they have to.

While Prism themselves wasn't a shitty corpo like so many others and the talents and regular employees seemed to have built pretty good relationships I did see complaints of Sony buying them and then just kinda sitting there and collecting the money instead of investing in and promoting them properly. The flood of new outfits and MVs means that it wasn't literally nothing but there's more to running a vtuber company than just those things.

They weren't collecting shit. Best case it was self-sustained, but even that is very big "if".
Vtuber adjacent. I love PremierTwo, I'm fine with Abroad in Japan, and I dislike Connor. But I guess it's for charity. And as much as I joke about Ironmouse, she's obviously talented I guess and helping people in a similar shit situation as her is good too I guess.

Like others have said previously. Sony didn't find a reason to invest in the project anymore. Prism itself never really flopped but they never really had their big moment imo. They have some amazing talents but, after 7 generations there was never a "boom" for them. I still remember after Sony acquired them they sat around twiddling their thumbs for a year and then out of the blue they did the whole weird clicker-game which led into an announcement of Gen 5. Then they tried to ride the male-vtuber hype train from Luxiem/StarsEN and had a double male debut (Gen 6).
