OP is projecting. She did tell stories about going to gaming bars and local fighting game events when she lived in UK (I think it was London), and Tekken is really, really big there, but they weren't told in a bragging tone.
The losses weren't making her mald, it made her lose face, so she felt nervous in a perpetuous cycle until she couldn't do shit midmatch. Again, her own fault, she didn't practice and she picked random ass characters for the Round Robin.
Didn't see the last > happening, so OP might as well be projecting as he opened with one (she was nervous laughing while narrating the Grand Finals, but I went to Sajam shortly).
She did not do fine, she was stuck in the plateau mindset where you get stunlocked by stupid shit. If she hadn't thrown before, making people judge her even more, she would at least get 2 to 3 wins under less pressure (inside her own head), some matches were highly in her favor but she forgot how to press buttons.
I agree on the point that Niji fiasco made her more nervous, but that would apply to Vic as well, and Vic focused properly, even if she made terrible choices midmatches. I even think if Vic wasn't there she would be left out of the public eye, but having someone from the same situation do better as an entertainer and a player tarnished her reputation even more.
