She likely married for the permanent residency (you can get permanent residency in Japan if you're married for three years). My guess is that either Kelsey got married with some affection for the guy and finds out he isn't all she imagined, or she got married specifically for residency. In either case, she spends three years trapped in a marriage she hates and gets a divorce as soon as she can after the three years is up.

So essentially this woman's entire adult life has revolved around attempting to move to Japan by whatever means necessary. Allow me. Bitch absolutely married out of convenience and there's a chance the dude wised up before she could collect. That's why she seemed to be desperate to find someone who could sponsor her visa like holo. There's a chance she only became a vtuber so she could abuse the system.
On a possibility of abuse, what people need to understand is that people like her wear their "trauma" as a medal of honor and use it as currency to get what they want. Her posts confirm this on several occasions. If she was abused by her husband in any meaningful way she would let you know and she'd be posting a lot about DV*. What the ex husband might be guilty of is probably just being a more traditional man and probably divorcing her ass once he found out she was just scamming him, hence her not so subtle misandry.
