I clearly can't think of any company who has ever done it. Hololive had to hide behind "different in directions" "Disagreement with management"

I will always hold my position as disliking her for springboarding off events of more notable/successful vtubers. It just seems scummy to use events of another corpo entirely to garner attention for yourself, especially if one of those events is a graduation and you use it to clickbait people.

Speaking of Twitch, Pillow has a question on indies and platforms (+ lemon woman's thoughts as someone who's done both)


My thoughts have always been that getting started as an indie is easier on Twitch, and you can rise to higher heights there, but YouTube indies can make it through gaming the algorithm like shorts.

But come to think of it, Pillow does have a point. It's hard to think of a pure EN YT indie that grew to really high noombers, discounting ex-corpos and other special cases. Pillow herself may be one of the few exceptions, but from this tweet she herself feels that's she's not there yet.

Well the reason is for a YT streamer it's completely free to stream to multistream to Twitch. The cannibalization of your audience is basically zero because almost no one on YT uses Twitch.

Going the other way (Twitch to YT), because everyone on the planet has a YT account, you will lose a small bit of your Twitch numbers.

You know who had stupendous success growing independently on YT? The vtuber drama streamers. Rima Evenstar grew from zero to like 400 when there's no big drama, 1000s when there is big drama. Yes she multistreams on Twitch but only to like 30 people. The fucking parrot can pull 1000+ every time he streams. It might be content most people don't want to touch, but it's successful, independent, livestream content, fully on YT. And taking advantage of YT's greatest strength, supporting streams with videos and videos with streams.

Pillow's content is what it is, but ASMR doesn't have a network effect. It doesn't strongly connect itself to other creators and videos in a way the algo can boost. And that's the key component to YT growth. The only content that thrives on YT is content with its own network effect. Drama is the obvious one, larger corpos can make it work because their viewer network is big enough to feed into each other (HoloEN being the clearest example, Niji in the Luxiem era, Phase almost purely because of Pippa until about 2023). Other than Hololive and drama, YT vtubing is ruled by react queens. But it doesn't really matter where they stream, as long as they can pump out a daily clickbait video that draws 50-100k views. It's just obvious that once you have 200k YT subs you may as well stream where people know you. And finally there's ex-corpos like Mint/Doki/Nimi still coasting on their old viewer networks.

I just wanted to chime in and say that she hasn't just grifted these takes recently her roommate account has a history of the same takes. She regularly hates changes/disrespect to the source material.

Tbh the recent criticism towards Clara's roommate Instagram postings and knowing Nene hasn't been drinking the same Kool-aid + Reina Sun was on some level friendly with Pippa/Phase until at least 2023 iirc + Isla Coleman and I think Char are both some flavor of South East Asian lead me to believe Hana Flores left because they weren't willing to be as pozzed as her.
