I don't think anyone is saying it's "one thing".
I mean, there's whole lists of ways that Cover has screwed up, that's already a lot more things than 'one'. Then there's also the language barrier which has a multiplier effect, and Mumei's own autism is another multiplier, and the cough is another.

Take the anime trope where there's a season-long arc that consists of a problem which could be easily solved if the characters just talked to each other for 5 minutes. Now imagine those characters don't speak the same language. Now make both characters autistic on top of that.
Every layer adds a new difficulty and it all compounds.

Even just taking her two reasons at face value: Disagreements with management and health. I'm pretty sure she explicitly said that if it was JUST health she could deal with it and keep going, and then I think we can infer from there that if it was JUST management problems she probably also could have kept going (it would still suck to be told, "Hey those voicelines and paperwork we said you had a month to do? We actually need them next week", but if she didn't have the stress from her throat making that more difficult, it would be tolerable). But combine everything and it's too much.

>Suisei who barely streams still undoubtedly the biggest name in the company
Sure they may not have as many subscribers or casual viewers but that doesn't mean they can't still be immensely popular with a more niche approach. All other vtubers stream, all other vtubers play games, all other vtubers chat with their audience and do le quirky menhera personalities, but only Holo puts out as many concerts and events.

In a bloated industry one should always play to their strengths, simply debuting generic vtubers which do what everyone else is doing isn't gonna cut it, sure they can still stream and such but new people need to be prepared to face the company's now widely known (rainbow me) autism and incompetence if they wanna siphon some of that sweet easy fame. You are joining a japanese company, you are gonna get fucked by paperwork, expect it and don't apply if you don't like that sort of thing.
Suisei is more of an exception than the rule, since she was grinding to be an idol from the start and for her - streaming is a side activity. However, if you look at their other most popular talents - they are balancing between streamers with "le funny personalities" and being idols.

Besides, as you have noticed - industry is bloated and, by this logic, no-one will be surprised by just another bunch of singing and dancing idols. Everyone have them. There are already corpos who, from what I understand, mostly focus solely on idol activities.

Holo strength, so far, was always in picking talented charismatic people who are good at both being entertaining streamers and being good idols / artists / dancers. Would anyone gave a damn about Kanade without her brat antics in GTA, for example? I don't think so. She'd be just another singer, dime of a dozen.

Having an interesting personality is a necessary groundwork for popularity for majority of people in Vtubing. And with how Holo, so far, managed to get people with fun personalities, it is their strength. Throwing it away, just to become another generic idol factory, would completely negate it to the point where Holo might become truly irrelevant.

Aside from Suisei, as Nenelove said, and Ayame only waking from her sarcophagus to slaughter Koreans, and people I could be forgetting about, I can't keep up with all six million talents, most of the people on board seem OK both streaming and doing projects at the same time, so that shouldn't be an issue.
Ayame coasts of her popularity as the streamer she once was, so its not exactly an exception.
We can see it on Gura example - she might disappear who few month with no explanation whatsoever and, yet, despite how illogical it is, there are always thousands of people waiting for return (myself included).

Cover hasn't gotten worse at picking talented people so that is not an issue, what I'm implying is that Holo is not for everyone, the 2020 rose-tinted glasses crap of wanting to join Holo because it looks like a haha funny hobby to play vidya and make friends even if you're an antisocial autist while also getting you tons of money is a thing of the past. New people have to be aware of what they're signing up for, there's lots of travelling, lots of "homework" and lots of getting told no. As I have said the post-2022 recruits seem a lot better prepared for the bullshit. If you want an easy, hassle-free time then either join another agency or grind as an indie, simple as that.

With Justice, you have a JP-speaker that's based in Japan already
Unless I missed all the parts where Raora converse in fluent Japanese, she barely qualifies as a JP speaker despite living in Japan.

We're also forgetting that Mumei has basically been running the character as a second job. If we're going back a bit, by not having someone in her life that understood the nature of what Cover was already up to, there wasn't anyone that could convince her to put graduate school on hold if she hadn't started. You can always go back to school, you can't find the opportunity she had with Cover again. But, against, somewhat autistic horse girl. The line of reasoning she followed is, frankly, kind of expected.

That "KANADE!" I can hear in my head anytime it's mentioned.

The duck was almost broken by the kusogaki.

Ayame retired like 4 years ago and just kind of shows up, but she's so good in the Hologra for memes/voice work they don't care much. The amount of meetings they had with Gura trying to get her to do the same thing must have been why it was so long. But, even by that measure, having something hanging out there is a strain and it wears on different people in different ways. For Gura, her person behind the shark needs to leave. Sad, but it's pretty evident it's worn on her a lot.

I've been rewatching all the music videos with Mumei. I only have Gravity and One Voice left to rewatch. I loved her singing so much.

I do think we'll probably get a hilarious OpSec breach when one of them gets married and some family member screws up.

You know, that might have been part of why Mumei kept her family in the dark, come to think on it. If her family are active social media users.

I feel like we haven't heard that much of Mumei's lower register, but this sounds really, really good.
