Currently downloading the Oblivion deluxe edition because I am literally cattle when it comes to Elder Scrolls. :vesperfacepalm:
Keep me posted on how it runs, bugs, and shit when you're a few hours in. At that price point it costs me nothing but wondering if I should wait. I could really use some Bethesdaslop to kill the time.

Horrifying revelations for you, friends. The Oblivion remaster is actually just modded Oblivion wrapped in Unreal Engine 5. It's actually a fucking turducken of game engines. Plus it has always-on raytracing.

Schedule 1 SteamDB Page.

In other fun news, the sales analysis systems are converging on at least 4 million sales for Schedule 1. It'll probably slowly settle into the downward total player count over the next 6 months to probably the 30-50k range, but it's probably going to sell 10 million copies by that point. While I do expect AC Shadows to have a lifetime higher total "sales" count because it's going to have that long, long, long term 5-15 USD Steam Sales numbers because the controversy will fade, it's never making Ubisoft a profit. Mostly because it's bad even at the thing AC is supposed to do: kill time as a grindfest. That's actually the lesson Ubisoft took from The Witcher 3, sadly.

do you have the original game?

Yes?

throw on one of the 2000000000000000 mods that add the rest of Tamriel to the world there you saved cash and didn't waste 90 gigs of worthless junk data on your computer.

From what people are saying, it's a mix between Oblivion and Skyrim's skill leveling, but I don't know what they exactly mean by that.

TLDR: They normalized attribute gains and all skill ups level you. So while you can still just level up from jumping around, talking to people, and picking locks, you'll at least get stronger in combat in some way from that.
From what I've read:
>no hard cap so you can max all skills to level up like Skyrim
>every skill you level up contributes in some way to your level ups like Skyrim regardless if it's a major or minor skill (not sure if majors level you up faster)
>you get 12 attribute points whenever you level up
>all attributes except luck cost 1 point and you can level them up 5 times per level
>luck costs 4 points to level up 1 time and can only leveled up 1 time per level

So your level up can look like:
+5 Strength
+1 Luck
+3 Endurance
or even
+2 Personality
+2 Speed
+1 Endurance
+1 Willpower
+3 Agility
+1 Strength
+2 Intelligence
Basically every level up results in an increase in your combat power so you don't get such drastic situations like "I've leveled up too much from jumping around, selling items, and talking to people. Now I die instantly from enemies that have scaled up with my levels while I can't kill anything." You can still fuck yourself up by leveling up something like:
+1 Luck
+5 Speed
+3 Personality
However even Luck applies a hidden buff to your combat effectiveness by buffing all your skills, which is why it costs 4. In old Oblivion, the calculation for this buff was:
Skill + (0.4 * (Luck - 50))
So if you had 60 luck, all your skills will be buffed as if they were 4 skill levels higher.
The old Oblivion leveling was:
-You level up once your total major skills increase by 10 points (ie 6 Conjuration/4 Illusion or 2 Conjuration/ 2 Illusion/ 3 Restoration/ 3 Destruction)
-You pick 3 of your attributes to gain a bonus in whenever you level up
-The bonus amount for each attribute depends on how many skill points you gained in skills governed by it, varying from +1 (0 skill ups) to +5 (at least 10 skill ups)

So if you had acrobatics as a major skill and you quickly gained 10 skill ups when you started the game from just jumping around, your level up could look like:
Choose Three
+1 Strength
+1 Endurance

+5 Speed
+1 Agility
+1 Personality
+1 Intelligence
+1 Willpower
+1 Luck
So if you were a min/max monkey, you could play it so you'd get +15 attribute increases increases every time you leveled up (better than the new 12 points in the remaster) but you're avoiding those +7 worst case scenarios with the Remaster.

This whole thing lets you not have to go super meta-game bullshit to actually enjoy the game.

Here's some initial thoughts from what I've played so far...

-Unpacking shaders at the start of the game took about 5 minutes and caused my pc to turn into a jet engine the entire time. It went back to normal once the actual game started.

-There's a delay in button response that is noticeable when attacking. I don't remember if that was a thing in the original. I got used to it overtime.

-Every character looks like they're made from molded puddy and the facial hair looks like glued on pubic hair.

-After exiting the sewers and tutorial, my computer once again turned into a jet engine and there was some very noticeable stutters as it loaded in everything. After that, it was fine.

-They toned down the visual vibrancy of the world and made it more realistic. It still looks good though.

-Tested standing on a campfire. It does indeed burn and damage you.

Overall, I'm enjoying it so far. Haven't messed with the leveling yet. And I haven't had any game crashes.

Yeah, I said fuck it and picked it up. Did the slaughterfish quest, about 9/12 scales in, I was told the quest giver died. Ran back up to town to see a Conjuror lighting up the town. Thank you, Oblivion, it's just like home.
