Some final comments on the entire AC:Shadows cycle, since it'll be over in a week and completely forgotten as Ubisoft gets parted out.
It might be one of the worst games to watch someone else Stream. It's a boring watch, which is quite impressive. That doesn't always mean it's a terrible game to play, as not all mechanical feel translates well to streaming. That said, it's mechanically boring as well. So, as a game, it would have been a fine rental back in the day, and it'd probably only be remembered for some stellar world visuals.
But it isn't a rental era game. It's a Pay to Win game with a 70USD price tag. It's pretty wild how far Ubisoft has gotten where the only thing they're doing that's actually interesting is how much monetization they put in single player games. I guess they aren't Sony levels of bad at Live Service games, but, geez.
Oh, and it's far & away the most racist game every published by a major Western developer. The level of spite in the story for everyone represented is quite noticeable.
@God's Strongest Dragoon absolutely nailed it with how much the staff hated players not choosing the female option, making it the only one that felt mechanically useful in the game. If some of the story wasn't neutered at some point in the process (you know it was worse at points in production), Japan would be well placed to recall their ambassador to Canada over this for a while.
