The increase in storage requirements for mobile games really escaped me. It feels like we went from megabyte sized games to tens of gigabytes in a couple of years.
The pre-load for Persona5-10 has started on app stores and steam, and it takes up 30GB on phones and 70GB on PC. I mean, I guess it makes sense since games like P5X, Genshin and COD mobile are essentially console quality games on a phone, but it still feels unnatural to have any single app on a phone take up more than a couple of gigabytes at most.

This same thing is true for Blue Archive's steam release. Iirc, it's like 10gb on Mobile but the steam release has it at ~20gb which had speculation that the PC release for it was going to use the uncompressed assets for backgrounds and characters portraits. (Which Nexon does have and does actively use in their official promos.) I assume the same is true for other mobile games like P5X and Umamusume.

A new console, by necessity, comes with graphical upgrades, and that shouldn't be any different for a PS6. The issue for the PS5 is the lack of games, particularly the lack of exclusive games, and I'd want to see significant evidence that something has changed for the PS6 before I thought about buying a new console. Sony doesn't need a few AAA-tier games for next gen, they need a bunch of AA games - a step above indies in terms of graphics and complexity, but not with the cost, development time bloat and sales expectations of AAA games.

I feel bad for people that bought a PS5 at launch thinking it would be totally worth it because there's be like a dozen good exclusives to justify buying that console. I held off on the PS5 because I wasn't interested in their line-up, so there was no point for me to buy a PS5. With the end of its life cycle soon, the only game that I was ever interested in playing was Stellar Blade and now I just got it on PC.

only if your a sony fan. Microsoft can learn hard on the offering from gamepass and Nintendo never stopped giving fans what they wanted. New Mario New Zelda occasionally a Metroid or a wacky spinoff like luigi's mansion.

Seriously even since the PS3 sony just refuses to have games for it's hardware.

>Gamepass

Gay.

>Nintendo

They've been doing their own thing since the Wii that I don't include them in the Generations anymore.

They are the only ones worth getting, though the Switch 2 (no creative name? gay) using emulation for backwards compatibility killed my interest. Still, I expect some worthwhile games on that console.

(I actually got more games on my PS4 than on my Xbox One (fuck your naming, Microsoft), but even then most of those PS4 games were fighting games so I was in practice for FGC locals and tournaments. My XBox One just collected dust.)

I figured after the gamecube release and Captain Falcon becoming more well known because of Smash that we'd get more but I guess not. Also the new Zeldas are very mid. They copied open world wanderlust game design from Witcher 3 and Skyrim without understanding how it worked and all the retarded Nintendrones that never leave their walled garden hail Nintendo as gods because they think Nintendo invented open world games.

Skyrim being the originator of anything decent? come on man even Riverbear would make more subtle bait.

I don't think they've learned anything from the current ps5 debacle.

A console takes about 4 years to design with modern hardware. I haven't checked around, but the code names are probably already out there and some test samples might already be done. It's probably going to be on the 4nm node. They would have started the design around 2022.

That's literally me this week. Bought a new card, playing low to run games, lol. (It was a really good deal that isn't going to get any cheaper.)

On PC, I can play video games while watching vtubers (and occasionally shitposting here at the same time). I find multitasking like this far more difficult on console, which makes PC gaming my default setup right now.

I didn't say it was the originator, I mentioned Skyrim because the devs explicitly mentioned that game as one of the influences for BOTW.

@John Vtuber👁️ Asking here since your gacha sperging in the Pippa thread got me intrigued - how hard is it to get into Uma Musume? I've put a lot of time into Blue Archive but I've caught up on basically everything so any real time commitment is usually 12ish hours every 3-4 months. Is Uma Musume comparable? Also, should I bother watching all of the anime thus far or just start with the game?

It's not "hard" at all to get into the series, just try out the game launching in ~9 hours. All of the Uma Musume are based on real horses, the stories are based on real races, plenty of opportunity to pop-in-and-out, or devour every piece of content available, depending on your preferences.

Personally? If you don't want to just give the game a spin for a few days, start with the anime, if you like that, you'll like the game. Season 1 -> Season 2 -> Season 3 -> Cinderella Gray, if you just want the "main" anime series in order of "progression". There's lots of web series, mini series, movie, manga, web comics, and Paka Tube itself, more than enough content to chew through. If you want a singular point to sell you on the series, my recommendation is always going to be Cinderella Gray, which is finishing up its first Cour with Episode 13 - which also gives you the opportunity to follow the series "live", if that's more your speed.

Uma Musume itself is a spreadsheet simulator for horse racing gamblers, where you put your units through various training courses before races, and prepare concerts post-race. Visual Novel story segments, PvP, events, it's not short on content in the least - although it's going to have an accelerated release schedule in Global, until meeting up with Japan however many years down the line. If you want to play casually, absolutely, you can, just go through the main content at your own pace - and you can also *very easily* sink in as much time as you want per day into the game. IRL time management, however, is entirely on you and your priorities!

This is the sort of IP that has more than enough hooks in it to become a hobby for the dedicated, including IRL events and concerts as well (mainly located in Japan, but CyGames has recently started sponsoring the Kentucky Derby with Uma Musume if you're unable to hit Japan). So if you find yourself enjoying it, you'll have a lot to look forward to!
