That Black Ops 7 trailer I thought was going to be something more interesting.
Sub-topic, but how much did they screw up Gears? Gears 5 wasn't actually that bad, but that "out of no where" dynamic choice clearly screwed up their ability to go forward. (I also really hated it because I didn't process there was suddenly a Choice Selection like 10+ hours into a game without them.)

The Second they brought back the Locust in 4 the series was permanently fucked going forward.
4 itself was fucked when the game spent 1/4 of its run time fighting robots which felt like a worse version of Binary Domain
They basically needed to do "Gears Universe" type of thing. New world, new story, similar game play. They ran into the Zombie World Logic issue.

So how many "remakes" until the core cast is outnumbered by DLC characters who ill fit the games core narrative?
So 3 Reload was announced at the XBox showcase June 8 2023, and was released in January 2024. So hopefully this holds up the same release window. I'm probably going to hold off on buying this one however until someone gets far enough to assure me they didn't tamper with the Kenji and Naoto storylines. I'm SUPER worried about the Tumblrites getting a hold of that and fucking with it.

Same with the remakes! Almost as if creating a follow-up of a beloved game, with smart re-use of assets from the previous games, leads to shortened dev times!
I'll get P4R, since it's a better game than most releases in the past decade, and I can only hope that Atlus is properly wrangling their activist localizers and EN VAs. Sure, the core game from Vanilla and Golden should remain mostly unchanged - but much like P3R, there's most likely going to be *new* content, which is the main concern for (literal) gay ops!

Max seems to have an insider at the Devs. It appears to be from the Killer Instinct 2013 crew that came back to make another game, and he seems to have playtested it somewhat.

I think most of Obsidian's goodwill was destroyed with Avowed.
I think it is laughable they decided to go all in on Outer Worlds 2, a game most normal people who played it, thought was middling.
No money, no fanboys except a small sect of redditors who do not like any criticism.
at best people were ambivalent towards outer worlds when it finally released.

Actually just looked up the Steam user reviews for "The Outer Worlds" and it's currently getting review-bombed, with the most recent lot of reviews being "Mixed".
