I don't think there's anything wrong with enjoying a broken, buggy, unfinished mess I have certainly done so before, but I also think that a game that is a broken, buggy, unfinished mess wouldn't qualify as a "good" game either. Not everything needs to be a triple A polished game, but if you sell something as one and advertise it as one, that one game probably should be.

Fanboys in general have had this issue where they feel insecure and demand that other people enjoy their schlop and recognize them as masterpieces to justify them enjoying the schlop. This has really gotten out of control and become more frequent since the whole TLOU2 shitshow where they lost their minds and kept trying to argue that TLOU2 is the greatest game of all time with the best story ever written. I feel just as weird about as Fallout fans obsessing about New Vegas being the greatest game of all time or Souls fags screaming "skill issue" the moment you think there's some flaws with their game.

Same deal with Zeldafags. These retards often never play non-Nintendo games, so they think their glorified DLC that's practically a bland Steam Early Access game is a 10/10 perfect game and will send death threats to any outlet that doesn't reinforce their delusions.

Is this bait? For the longest time, ARPG was synonymous with Diablo, and all games in that vein were looked at as Diablo clones. Also, Hack-n-Slash. So there were two terms that brought to mind Diablo whenever they were mentioned.

e: context, this tweet was posted like a couple hours after a major Path of Exile 2 content reveal wrapped up. Blizzard, in their infinite wisdom, scheduled their own midseason(or something, i don't follow D4, i only know it was a devstream that wasn't a major event) Diablo 4 developer stream to go at the same time and, naturally, due to the two being vastly different in magnitude, the twitch CCV ratio went like 15:1 in favor of PoE2.

Personally i think that the PoE crowd clowning on the poor man in replies is being a lil bit childish, but i also get the reaction precisely because PoE has been born out of Diablo and has been in Diablo's shade for all of its existence, despite being a better game than anything Blizzard does these days for a few years now.

Some terms have been excessively watered down through overuse and trend chasing, but part of a genre maturing is growing out of its "-clone" terminology. There's a reason people don't talk about Doom clones anymore even with the boomer shooter resurgance.
Though when a series shits itself as hard as Diablo did after 2, you only really have yourselves to blame for speeding up the process. Soulslikes really should have a better name by now but it keeps on going because Fromsoft have been competent enough to keep the masses gushing with each release, it's only really the superfans who've experienced the cracks in their design multiple times who complain.

No-one's saying that the games aren't enjoyable, obviously they are, but that doesn't mean they don't come with obvious flaws and sticking points in the design that could be improved and learned from - and often, annoyingly with a decade and a half of hindsight, just aren't. Going all the way back to DS1 where Fromsoft decided to design Lost Izalith using the copy-paste tool or the camera tech that's by this point falling apart trying to keep up with the speed, agility, and scale their boss design has evolved into.

You could at least at me directly if you're going to keep doing it on this topic.
