So played a bit of the new update

Stage 5 is easy, steamrolled it as Kaela

Stage 4 Hard mode is fucking brutal, Kaela is a bit too slow and the swarming is insane. One of the bosses basically makes you have to do math equations in the middle of the fight and you have to stand in a square as you are being swarmed I think?

I've only tried it on steam

Maybe Kaela is just not made for the newest hard mode stage. I trashed Stage 5 but the ID arena is absolute hell. She's just too slow.

I've only tried Pekora and Marine so far, but I feel 100% confident in saying that Marine is the best new character.

Edit: I have now tried Noel and Flare, and I can confirm that she's the best of her gen. I'll try out the rest tomorrow.

I've only tried Pekora and Marine so far, but I feel 100% confident in saying that Marine is the best new character.

I've done the rest of the characters (all on level one), and I still feel like Marine is the best. Watame is probably second, though I'm not sure how she performs on other levels.

 

[God's Strongest Dragoon]

So far I've only played Gen 3 and Coco out of the new girls added. Coco is actually disgusting but she's super item dependent. One of her skills fully negates the health drain from injection type asacoco, so you get a massive damage boost without having to get a kusogaki item or playing around the health drain. Her skill also gives her lifesteal off asacoco weapons, which counts the collabs like dragon fire and even the super collab with the Gorilla's paw. That super collab weapon is incredibly stupid on her because her skill is a 20% chance for 5% HP whenever she does damage with asacoco weapons and that weapon has a crazy rate of fire so you're just proccing health regen nonstop.

Meanwhile GWS increases skill damage whenever your special is charging and with her heat skill, it's always active since I'm always using the 50% or 75% charge and never use the dragon form. Throw in an idol costume for faster special cooldown and you're spamming that shit nonstop. Her machine gun/heat 1 is 50% meter and with the idol costume, that shits up all the time. It feels like a more chaotic but less risky Mio.

Noel is strongest your right about Wata but she falls off stupid hard as things get more and more hp meaning she has to work harder for her screen clears. and since her main weapon is intentionally piss poor at actually killing things. (amazing for the knockback sticker or other rider effects though) shes ride or die on her gimmick. but get her full meal + ubersheep and nurse + the burger meal from holohouse cooking + max burger drop rate form upgrades.

and it becomes hilarious and she might actually be a contender for coin farming runs since i suspect that much "damage" negates Halu completely. and she has space for other coin items.

Noel is dead simple. Stack max hp at all costs Piki Piki is a godsend as is gorrilla + knight milk. i had her swinging 300+ on basic attacks without any other modifiers. and her kill speed is great enough to run injection and nurse mask too nothing survives.

Edit: Oh and something fun ive found if your about to take a hit the potion support item or dash dodge just makes injection nearly safe to run on anyone.

Aside from the new girls, Bae got both a technical and flavor rework this patch. Her kit synergizes a lot better now, though, she is hilariously OP now lol. It is nice to see them going back and personalizing the flavor of the earlier characters, as that is one thing I had hoped they would do, since the earlier characters had more lore-generic flavor.

So ive messed around in the Casino a bit more.

Play the slots and put on a movie.

The odds are stupid in your favor because of two mechanics that they don't tell you about. Fevertime which is something some of you may be familiar with doubling all winnings but the real bankbreaker is The Minigame I have no idea what triggers it but each time its another free 400 coins (ive sometimes gotten upwards of 600) all you do is hammer space so you don't even need to look at the slots.

There is also the bonus pool which gives you the total of the pool every time you hit a jackpot essentially meaning you get all your losses back.

so if you want an easy way to get those prizes there you have it not the fastest but guaranteed victory took about a 200 coin nest fund before i got the first minigame tho.

EDIT: the CoinPiles is what triggers the minigame and I've had it happen three times in a row which suggests Kay didn't program any manipulation of the results which leads me to assume that you can time the slots if your fast enough (important if your used to weighted slots like the ones in pokemon)

Roulette is also completely safe bet on white and then time the kick action you lose some of your bet but you double what's left so it's a pretty easy way to steadily make coins once you get enough from slots there is some risk however. you can mistime the kick for example.

While we're talking about new Holocure minigames:

The woodchopping and mining minigame is way too repetitive and grindy and just plain wears out its welcome. Doesn't help that some resources are much more scarce than what the crafting requires, so you got to spend extra time breaking materials you don't want for little money to get a chance at materials popping up that you do. Maybe if it stopped at level 5 it would have been more fun.

The platform minigame is reskinned Jump King. I don't like it. I'm not a fan of the platform mechanics of this (or Jump King), it doesn't feel like the inputs I put in quite match what happens on-screen, which is really frustrating when the schmup portion of the game controls so exquisitely, and I feel like the difficulty hasn't hit the sweet spot that other minigames hit and is a little bit too frustrating.
