If these people encountered an actual Neo-Nazi they'd die of apoplexy. Kirche is right wing sure, but no more so than any typical republican. Her takes can be an odd mix of astute and tinfoil bullshit, but that's no different than half of the boomers on Facebook. She's just saying the kind of shit I'd hear at lunch at work, the only difference is she's an entertaining enough presenter to have a platform.
Fact is certain people have decided that society should have certain progressive values pushed, and are not content with the slow incremental change that society usually sees. They see something they think is an injustice and think there is no reason not to immediately correct it. They think anyone who isn't onboard with such immediate change must be a proponent of the opposite. But the reality is humans don't work like that. They don't form positions and values over a lifetime and change them at the drop of a hat. And that's a good thing.
Societal values and structures are based on a long term stability, not rocking the boat too much, not going too far from what we know works. There are things which might seem desirable but are damaging in retrospect. I don't think most people would have to think too hard to come up with examples. Resisting dramatic change is a core aspect of conservatism as a whole. It might seem frustrating when you're trying to move quickly but it has it's value.
I use the analogy of a car. Progressiveness is the gas pedal, conservatism is the brakes. We are headed to the grocery store. We generally agree on this destination. Some people want us to stay at home, some people want to go to the liquor store but I digress. What we are seeing now is progressives getting frustrated with the pace and tramping on the gas. Conservatives get alarmed at what they think is an unsafe speed and tap the brakes. So the progressives try giving it more gas, and so on an so on. And now we find ourselves flooring it with the brakes locked on, smoke coming out of everything with the progressives screaming that the conservatives want everyone to starve, and the conservatives are screaming that the progressives are going to kill us all in a crash.
And the progressives can't tell the difference between people who think we should slow down, stop, go home or go somewhere else, because they're all hitting the brakes. But the Nazis are hitting the brakes too, so the progressives choose to call them all Nazis in an attempt to get some people to take their foot off the brakes.
And that's how you get people who broadly agree militantly opposed to each other, as they think the other side is some sort of existential threat/caricature of evil.
at some point, it’s unavoidable now.
