Oh yeah, there's absolutely survivorship bias, but there were also just less books written in general before, so I'm still the best kind of right. Technically right.Pippa's actually right about survivorship bias. For example, we laud George Orwell's 1984 and Animal Farm as essential classic fiction, but Orwell actually wrote six novels, three non-fiction books, a play, four scripts, five journals, short stories, and has had the articles he's written compiled into multiple books. However, we've just taken "Animal Farm" and "1984", said "these are classic books" and the rest of his written work we largely ignore. Seems like survivorship bias to me.
