I would argue it's because of the managerial class being the dominate force. When tech was just nerd shit, it went below the radar (strangely). When the non-nerds started using tech more and more, then here came the bureaucracy.

The YouTube adpocalypse was the nail in the coffin to hope for the best way to advertise, individually directed/targeted regardless of the content it was shown on, now the content must be aligned with their ethics, which is aligned with the ethics of those in power.

Yeah, normies in general made tech companies dumb everything down, they have to make sure your operating systems, smartphones, tablets etc. are retardproof, which ironically make them more difficult to use for anyone who wants to do anything other than check their emails or do basic office shit.

The adpocalypse was so obviously a targeted attack on YouTubers by journalists who know their days are numbered. Advertisers only cared about their ads being next to PewDiePie making edgy jokes because journalists kept pestering them about it, none of those complaints were organic.

I remember messing with chatbots in the 90s. Was fun. The idea of them actually being so good that I wouldn't be able to tell was science fiction.

Wasn't until the last few years did it finally get through to my head that a lot of science fiction absolutely can be real and are actually predicting the future.

The sci-fi dystopias especially.
