As glad as I am that she's found something that gets her this interested, I can see the crash coming already when all these early-days novelties wear off. It's not gonna be financially viable to keep reprinting older sets forever, and rotations will have to happen eventually to maintain balance (just look at the absolute mess that is Pokémon's Expanded format to see what happens if you don't).

Chaos Confetti (tear up and throw above table, all touched cards are destroyed) is from one of the joke sets (thus the tear it up to play it), it's in reference to the story of a player tearing up a Chaos Orb (Drop on table, destroy every card it touches) during a tourney. The joke sets are wildly broken and were never meant to be played.

While I may not have all the information myself, what I currently understand is that the next several sets are in various stages of production at any given moment, and the team balances with this in mind - any changes afterward are swiftly taken care of within a day or so, and the card is re-established later under a new printing with the revised mechanics (so that the original banned card can still be used in Unlimited format play).
Once a set sells out, it won't be re-printed outright. The cards themselves, if not made available in current product, will eventually be re-added in future product if they can't be easily obtained. Staple Cards, for example, will almost always be available in starter decks, so they don't have to take up slots in new sets. After that, it really is up to the team to keep balance, and so far, their focus seems to be split between balancing the newer cards to give new life to older cards in synergy, and offering new strategies introduced with the set. In my opinion, I trust the team to modify the format as needed when the time comes, but I am incredibly biased!

Honestly when I think of games series with good stories I think of things like Half-Life. she already likes the Portal stuff so she's like halfway there already
