Matrix is an open-source, decentralized alternative to Discord, Skype and similar platforms.
To access my Matrix instance, you need to first download a Matrix client. Or use a client webapp. The main choice for this instance is Cinny.io.
You will need to set a custom homeserver. The homeserver field should be set to chat.virtuallyinsane.me
Once set, you need to create an account. If I need to explain how to do this then you're too young to be reading this message.
After that, all you need to do is connect. You will then need to join the available rooms manually using this symbol;

Join whatever rooms most suit your autistic needs at the time. Be sure to read both the rules in the dedicated #rulesandregulations channel and the rules in the topic header of each room you join. They are mostly common-sense and should be effortless for anyone with two braincells to obey.
Happy chatting.
As many people here already know, the modern internet is becoming increasingly obsessed with censorship. Say anything against certain arbitrarily protected groups, and you will be summarily banned from most social media sites. Question mainstream narratives and you will be labelled a deranged conspiracy theorist. Assert the arbitrary nature of objective reality and you will be considered on par with genocidal maniacs like Hitler (but not Stalin, he was a good socialist boi who did nothing wrong).
Now, I am not a member of the alt-right, far left or tepidly centrist movements. I have never voted for any government. I am a quietly religious individual who holds the view that everyone deserves the same opportunities in life, and that moral principles are inherently conducive to the orderly function of society. However, this is considered an outrageously extreme position by a majority of centralized communication hubs across the internet. I have been suspended on multiple platforms for speaking what is objectively factual, with zero recourse or appeal.
Matrix, however, offers an alternative. By hosting my own Matrix instance, I can stand up for what I believe in and help create spaces where people can engage in basic discourse without a constant Sword of Damocles hanging over their head.
