Unfortunately, all things come to an end. Most of the time it's not even the death of the thing you like so much, but just the ever changing nature of entertainment. You can clown on me for what I'm about to say, but man one of the worst experiences in entertainment I had in my young adult life was when I found out Assassin's Creed was going to an rpg format. That series had been my favorite franchise for almost a decade, and yeah Unity/Syndicate weren't great, but to full send in a new direction just felt like I was tossed off some wild ride and left behind. These days I am having to deal with my favorite Idol group announcing their final live concert as a group because all Idols graduate for one reason or another.
Hololive is kind of a combination of both feelings right now, at least when it comes to the older gens. They have this ambiguous new direction that some talents keep mentioning, but I genuinely can't tell the difference between now and 2 years ago so I'm not sure what is happening. I just know it is causing people I like to rethink their position. The idol group comparison is self-explanatory.
Back on the homeland I mentioned that you are meant to find new and enjoyable people to latch on to and that's why new gens are so important. As a company you don't want to have so many that there are too many to keep up with, but you can't rely on the old guard forever either. Advent and Justice are legitimately fantastic gens that are actively keeping me tethered to the brand itself. Don't get me wrong I still love Sora, Towa, Roboco, etc. as individuals, but if cover had missed on Advent and Justice as gens then I think there's a good chance I would not give a shit about Hololive as an overarching entity anymore, and instead I would enjoy those talents like I enjoy some Nijis and Phasekeks. Having overall cohesive gens that are more prone to doing company events together can still allow me to feel attached to the brand. It's getting harder for me, to be honest.
