I will not try to cope but it is quite interesting how people are not exactly mourning gura, but the memory of gura from 4 years ago, you could say it's people mourning the boom era even though it's been over since like 2022.
Back when talk about her graduating started being common on like 2023 or so I remember thinking that if she did graduate it would be the biggest thing ever with every vtuber related space going up in flames and the discourse no dying for weeks, but now I look around and ever since the waiting room was posted the most common sentiment I see is "welp we all saw it coming", like this is still shocking to see, but more in "huh i didn't though it would happen today".

Like I have honestly not watched a Gura stream in quite some time and honestly feel relatively indifferent to her as a whole, but I still feel a little nostalgic about when HoloEN debuted and I immediately subscribed to all 5 of their channels and watched all of their debuts.

Being fair the end of the boom era coincided with Gura becoming a ghost with her streams, so mourning Gura and the era are hand in hand for the most part.
The drop in stream activity felt like it happened in late Summer 2022, right after Sana graduated. Coincidentally enough any Gura stream I can think of was from Spring of 2022.

I wonder how long did Kiara and the other remaining Myth members knew?
How long has her back been bad carrying that weight?

Probably about six months ago so October, maybe September.

Yeah, I don't know, I don't feel anything over her leaving. She checked out years ago, kept saying she'll totally be back this time, fr fr no cap, then coming back to shill merch and disappearing again, with basically no updates until the next time she showed up and repeated the loop.

Songs and projects she kept saying were really close just kept not happening. Crazy how Kiara, who's been very forthcoming with all her project and management bullshit and issues has still managed to get stuff out, and maintain a streaming schedule, while Gura just got 100% hit rate fucked on every single thing she tried to make, and also just didn't stream. Ina got out more PROJECTS while basically working two jobs.

I cannot see how it would actually be all management issues and company direction if she literally hasn't fucking existed for three years. It all feels a little fake, or disingenuous, or hollow, whichever one has the least "I think she's a dumb whore" connotations, because while I don't hate her as a person it really seems that she just didn't want to do anything anymore, and was coasting for the free cash. Finally deciding to cash out her drama-free exit ticket because "disagreements with management" instantly nullifies her part of the, I think deserved, negativity over all of this.

But yeah, I feel like she should've either given a fuck and tried these past three years, or just quit back then. I also sincerely doubt she'll be back for any serious period of time. While I really don't feel anything over Gura herself, I feel for the other girls, and the shitstorm they're about to be engulfed in.

Corporate tape, sluggish speed, having to get perms and approvals for everything, the girls having to do idol stuff and major events. Going public seems to have been the start of a slow rot
Wait, but surely this all still beats your average 9 to 5

I feel nostalgic for that era but I never associated it with myth in particular, I did watch all of their debuts live and fall in love with it but that quickly became a love for Holo as a whole as I rushed to learn everything I could about the roster of talents, and then vtubing as a whole as it was back then because it just seemed so special and different.

I think a lot of people also saw it coming because every low activity talent has been dropping one after another to the point that there's only Ayame left. Everyone else streams at least once every couple of weeks at the minimum if not on break.

Amazing that Japanese companies have to follow Japanese laws and customs. Who knew?

While it was obvious and she was essentially graduated in all but name, it doesn't really change the fact that it sucks. There's not much to say that hasn't been said but may as well.

She was genuinely one of the best entertainers in this industry and I'm glad she was able to show that off some, whether it was being hilarous on stream or flexing her wonderful voice on the biggest stage at Fes. She made 2020-2021 better for so many people, myself included, and the bond between her and Myth was something absolutely blessed to witness over the years. Whether it was mental health or physical health, it'll always suck that she never got to take full advantage of how goddamn phenomenal she was. I'm sure the alternate timeline where Gura streamed consistently and got her songs/covers/projects out is much more fun than the one we're on now.

In the end, I just hope she's able to take care of herself and handle whatever brainworms/health issues were hindering her. Thank you for all the good times.

Wonder what causes songs to be in limbo so much. Selenshock happened because of a song cover in limbo (different company, but similar issue). Did something change recently in Japan that would make JP companies particularly suck at pushing song stuff out?
she herself said she didn't like the mixing and the way music producers/autotune distorted her voice. And we know that Cover goes through like 3 managers before the word actually reached the producers and the producer himself might not even know where and how to fix.
It's either begging him to fix it or restarting the entire thing, which would be costly.
This is why I watch Neuro. Can't have anyone fuck your oshi if she literally isn't real.
What if Neuro gets an AI boyfriend. I think vedal can definitely do it
Yeah her issue getting projects out might have been a problem, but being completely honest hearing stories from Gura about it many times it seems like a gura problem rather than fully on management, I remember when she was gonna release a Queen cover but the composer she hire for the background music tried to scam her so she said she was gonna look for someone else, and then never did.
She also has a tendency to not finishing longer games and projects, the atlantis thing was a meme for a reason. How many games did she actually reached the ending beside DMC?

I can't help thinking back to those recent Cover quarterly earnings reports and seeing how their pivot to IP merch/licensing actually doing revenue numbers that it's actually outpaced their revenue from their livestreams and concerts. Gura actually deciding to go the graduate route means that is one massive DEAD IP that Cover can no longer monetize (and they fucking went hard with her IP pushing it for exclusive events, merch and myriads of other licensing deals). I think this graduation has been long-in-the-works within the company and is probably what really helped prompt the Yagoo CEO open-door policy "tea parties".

It's not like management's evil or anything. Just that some of the girls who left don't mesh well with the reality of things. Someone earlier made a good point that new talent coming in will likely be less volatile in that they know what to expect. But with older talents that were around for the evolution of their corpo and the industry, they could easily just not like how things are.

The way things are can be gay and lame, and talents like Gura definitely could have done more imo. her situation was like having someone terminal stick around for long enough for resentment to build on all sides. I don't think her graduation's super major, but it's still a bummer.

The Swarm ships anything and everything, I'm sure an AI boyfriend would be accepted eagerly if that were ever to happen.

Would probably be the strangest genre of vtuber content I've ever heard of though.
