It's all the constant fighting and it is solely the fault of /vt/ and Nyfco, as far as I am concerned. Infighting between EN gen fans, infighting between Stars and Holo fans, infighting between Nijisanji fans, fighting between corpos, fighting between corpo and indie fans, fighting between indies, fighting over politics, fighting over every small grudge people can't get over after it happened years ago... all thanks to a bunch of brigading from places like /vt/ and nyfco to Twitter, Reddit, and YT comments plus a bunch of gayops.
There's just been so much unpleasant shit lately from so many small corpos falling apart, the Niji/Selen drama, Idol's work-in-progress fall from grace, the volunteers pozzing up OffKai, the seeming increase in grooming/abuse scandals in the indie scene etc.. Regardless of which particular sphere you sit in within the wider vtuber community, you've almost definitely had some kind of loud reminder lately that vtubing isn't the wholesome escape from reality it was in 2020 any more, and it's just made everyone more cynical.
True. It's why I'm actually getting nervous about how quiet Phase has been relatively speaking. These days I'm a bit uncomfortable with all the Fishman biting-the-hand humor because I'm worried it might just come back to bite the whole company in the ass if it turns out there were cracks building up under the surface.
That said, Holo already had its annus horribilis circa 2021-22, and the way they handled Mel's termination makes me think they can take anything at this point.
Generally, after shit bottoms out, you do get the most resilient, antifragile ones left, whether it's corpos, talents or fans.
No news is usually good news, and trust me, if there were problems, we would be seeing them. As in this industry, it's incredibly hard to hide shit, and there's no way that there wouldn't be a foreshock if there were some predictable problem behind the scenes. All of Phase's problems seem to come from external actors like merch firms or anti's working their way into con leadership.

That wasn't purely Kirsche... but I miss when she went on weirder tangents, rather then cover politics and censorship. Not that I even disagree with her stance on censorship, I just don't want to hear it repeated over and over again from streamers I'm watching.
