Was it Enna or Millie who has a chat constantly making out with each other or sending her SCs about having happy family or finding SO within her fanbase? Some people should take them as an example, it's much more fun to trigger a lonely streamer by telling her how happy you are, instead of being triggered she isn't as lonely as you

Maybe I'm smoking too much rat hair but this shit kinda seems like a falseflag or psyop by le /vt/ Nijinegros to try and stamp out the fire in their camp.
This shit will NEVER compare to :educateyourself:.
Between the Sayu doc and the merch thing it's been a bad week for Nijisanji fans*. This is absolutely a sad attempt to retaliate for the past few days of anti Kurosanji smug-posting

Given how ridiculously parasocial people can get in the vtuber sphere, this shit should be said more often. If it hurts people's feelings to be reminded of this, then they're already getting too parasocial themselves.
The main reason these things aren't usually said is because money dries up. Regardless streamers themselves get parasocial with their chats and until they themselves stop that then I personally can't take them seriously when they say not to get parasocial. I watch Pippa and every time she goes on about not getting parasocial I just roll my eyes. Expecting people to not get parasocial is the most retarded expectation ever. Every streamers fans are parasocial and every streamer is parasocial with their audience.

Someone hasn't hung out with their friend group of squinties, Islams, and darkies only to discuss how much you hate the Irish. I'm just saying, you should go out into the world, and explore the vast cornucopia of races that all look the same but hate one another because of the type of pigeon they eat. It's culturally enriching and they'll be actually cool with you if you hate the slightly different shade of paint as them. Yellow #4 > Yellow #5

The best part of drama involving people I didnt really care about much is that I can root for the outcome that makes the most entertainment, I didn't really have and opinion on Pikamee joining Vshojo but now I hope she is, and also that Nazuna renews a 10 years contract with Vshojo.

Kinda related but this plus all the Pika talk made me remember my absolutely favorite Pikamee clip, probably one of my favorite vtuber clips ever:

It's not how you worded it the first time. But still without an actual signing the agreement doesn't mean shit. If it is after the signing then I doesn't matter if ghosted or not. The contract was then agreed upon. If not then the agreement is void and the original contract stands or is void as well (if expired and not extended).

My points still stand.

Aside from the general question if this is all true in the first place. We only know one side of the story.
My argument has never been that she has a legally enforceable position to sue them or anything, it was about whether she was scammed or misled and whether she "deserved" it.

Legal enforceability has nothing to do with whether it is scumbag behavior to write a notably worse contract for someone in a time of crisis. If you find out you were given a worse contract than your peers and bring it up, are told it will be fixed, and then management actively avoids the topic with you and does not follow through afterwards, that is scumbag behavior.

Legality and morality are not the same thing. Even if it's a profitable business practice, nobody "deserves" to be taken advantage of by a corporation when shit isn't going well in their life.

About Holo publishing fan-games - they have a specific clause in their agreement that anything created by fans should always be made only at a hobby level. By picking good products and officially acknowledging them they will create a precedent that if you commit to it professionally you can make money on it. Which is the opposite of what Holo wants you to do. They don't want another Holobass thinking he can start his musician career by making music using hololive assets. Also, dealing with various copyright issues when your fans are spread around the world is a nightmare, it's much easier to just go "fun only, no money" and leave it at that
The Holocure made a statement on the game's subreddit about whether he ever wants to put it on Steam and the general future of the game. Pretty interesting.

Eh I'll just make a whole ass post about this, since it's important for a lot of people.

I understand with the release of Idol Showdown, people have been asking about this more, and let me address it once again. But first, let me talk about my thought process about my mentality of putting the game on itch vs Steam.
Itch is designed to be an indie space, and that's where you expect to find indie games and other projects. Steam is a MUCH larger platform, where the AAA corporate companies live and sell their games. This is a big difference. As HoloCure is a passion project, itch definitely fits better. Being a fan game I wanted to be able to set the proper level of expectations for it, whereas it being a Steam game comes with a lot more responsibilities, and I didn't want that. Or more accurately, I couldn't afford that. This is on top of the legal concerns of putting a fan game onto Steam, where there's more scrutiny with legal rights and all that. I see itch as more of an indie hosting platform, where Steam is a storefront where most commercial games are. If HoloCure is on Steam, it is possible that people (not just the Hololive community) will see it as more of a commercial product, even if free, rather than a hobby fan project. That's both a personal issue to me, and a legal concern.
HOWEVER, and this is a BIG however, several things have happened since my initial decision to keep it off Steam. Several major unexpected things happened since then that is making me have to reconsider.
  1. Our HoloCure launcher was forced to be taken down. Again I won't really go into details why this happened, but our hand was forced, and I didn't see this coming at all. And I don't think anyone would have seen this coming. But without a way to auto update for players, it is a pretty large setback to how easily our players can play the game the way it's meant to. Too many players playing outdated builds is a big problem we can't ignore.
  2. Another thing I didn't see coming, is that I was... "invited", to talk to "some people"... about "some stuff" in person, while I was in Japan back in February. For now I won't say anything more than that.
Due to these 2 unexpected events, I've reconsidered my stance on HoloCure on Steam. But please note that all I'm saying here is I've reconsidered. Nothing more than that at this time.
Despite all this, let me say that HoloCure is STILL a hobby project, and will still be a free game no matter what happens in the future. It's just a hobby project that I need to make sure follows all guidelines and doesn't even remotely risk any rights concerns with Cover. And this process of making sure that HoloCure follows guidelines and isn't risking any legal rights concerns with Cover is taking some time. And this is taking time because the decision to be put on Steam is not solely on just me or the team. Feel free to interpret that how you like. This is as much as I can say for now. I'm not confirming anything, I'm only talking about what has happened lately and what's currently happen, and I can't confirm what will happen in the future, as I don't even know.
Thanks for your patience and understanding guys.
PS: This post is just meant to be here for the subreddit, can I ask y'all to keep this on the down low for now pls (especially point 2 above. Legit don't even know if I am allowed to mention that...)
(^:
PPS: Also no, my stance about donations still has not changed, I don't want y'alls money.

I am cursed because I'll get into a streamer, then they'll start to get parasocial out of nowhere after a few weeks. And I'm not gonna lie, it has rubbed off on me as well. We are conditioned in this digital age to have sort of an emotional connection through networks that are not really real.

I had to break containment on one streamer because she was starting to show these warning signs. However once a streamer starts to get even an ounce of parasocial with their audience (see Pippa as you mentioned), the only thing that can really stop it is if their audience becomes too big to quantify emotionally. However the road to that is traveled by few. Fauna is one certainly, but we are dealing with a lot of emotional unstable neets for the most part. This is how they've been trained to socialize.

For me personally, I've considered staging a menhera episode and vanishing, like going cold turkey on some of these streamers and getting back into hololive or Nijisanji full force. But I dunno, that wouldn't feel right. I'll just sit back and hope that their episodes will pass, as parasocialism is not healthy for any if the parties involved.

I am going to disagree with this. Asmongold himself has said he is parasocial with his audience as is every other streamer. The only way he can lessen it is because he himself views his streaming self as a cartoon character.

It's funny but a few studies and all that who research this kind of stuff are starting to consider this stuff with streamers a separate thing from actual parasocial relationships. Mainly because there is a back and forth with it and it goes deeper than what a parasocial relationship should or is supposed to be. Also is it them starting to become parasocial out of nowhere or you just becoming hyper aware it's happening?

Posting what might be a HILARIOUS followup to these posts.

Preface, I give no shits about this. But I enjoy seeing remorseless GFE streamers flying too close to the sun.

Courtesy of Banned Vtuber memes, it appears that a) Kiki might actually be married despite claiming she's never dated before due to strict parents, and b) The top donor reward for her donothon, her old gaming chair (wtf), MIGHT ACTUALLY be her husband's old gaming chair. :whatastory:

So it appears that Fauna has some people trying to drum up controversy surrounding her response to a schizo superchat.

She responded to this Superchat for a decent amount of time starting here - timestamped

The transcript of the first part can be seen here: View attachment 24266
After saying this, she talks about how she was a lonely shut in during college and had to really get out of her comfort zone to make friends. She also spends time giving advice to people on stuff to do to make friends. Completely reasonable and good suggestions.

She then gets back to "Don't try to be friends with streamers"

People are now trying to spin this completely reasonable and well thought out response to be somewhere in the realm of Finana's "Parasocial Fucks" yab.
View attachment 24269View attachment 24270
It also appears that people are complaining in the comments regarding what she said. It also appears, not surprisingly, that the comments are getting nuked.

People are certainly trying to make this stick, but I'm not sure it's going to work. They're getting meme'd on pretty hard.

edit:

I personally disagree, because that thread is mainly just /vt/ schizoposting in and of itself. Because this is actually something from a stream, and is having people respond in the comments as well, it feels like the general thread is a better place. However, I defer to the bossman's opinion if he feels the move is warranted.

Lol, most of the YT comments weren't even from members.

Anyway, Fauna actually replied to one of them.

It could very well be that it is something I am noticing after awhile. However a couple seem to bring it up specifically after the fact. Like they are becoming aware of it, and while it's possible that I didn't notice it before in those cases, I will also say that they didn't actively bring up the concept until awhile after I had become a regular viewer. Like no one sets out, or at least doesn't outwardly say that they will start to rely on the audience in that way.

Maybe its because I come from the hololive sphere where it doesn't feel like it comes close to what I've been engaged with over the past 6 months.

Es latine amigue, lo aprendi de Roza coatl. Seriously tho fuck her I hope her company dies again.

Why?

So it appears that Fauna has some people trying to drum up controversy surrounding her response to a schizo superchat.

Good on her. Yes, it would be nice if she didn't have to say these things, but if it brings some people back from the brink of parasociality, it's worth it. I really hope the tempest in a teakettle from some of these nutjobs doesn't cause her to get a management bonk because she's doing nothing wrong.

bruh I checked some of her older VODs and that mic made her sound like vermintide fr it's a nice surprise she sounds fine now

She apparently felt that her natural voice didn't match her older model so she pitched it up. Maybe it was also a self-confidence thing for having a voice that's not quite "default squeaky anime girl." I just figured it was an anonymity thing at the time so maybe that's part of it too. Either way I agree her natural voice is easier to listen to.

During her most recent stream, Fauna received a superchat from noted troll and Kronii anti Alexander Babski asking her if they can be friends in an attempt to bait her. Fauna replied that she and her fans can never be friends and shouldn't be friends. Despite explaining her reasoning pretty eloquently, some people are trying to force drama out of this. Here are some comments from the stream:

As you can see, it's mostly just grays trying to stir up drama. But thankfully, Killer King is here to remind us what's really important:

This has been the month of the /uuu/ rake, first the saplings get cucked live by known, manly and badass cucking youtuber, Rubber (code word for all the condoms he uses to fuck your oshi btw) Ross and now they get told that watching a random woman online play vidya while talking using a soft voice and anime avatar does not make them friends and they should go get laid

Sad!

There's definitely degrees of how parasocial one can get. You are right that damn near everyone is parasocial to some degree. I get a lot of joy watching my favorite vtubers, and I will miss watching them if they go on breaks (like Lumi is now). I also care about their well-being outside of their streams and hope the best for them, especially if they are clearly going through a rough time. I'll feel bad for them if something bad happens and happy for them if something good happens. While I'm definitely not the peak of what a well-adjusted individual looks like, I feel like things like this are fairly normal.

But at the end of the day, the relationship between the streamer and myself is one of entertainer and one looking to be entertained. And we all know there are way too many people that take it much farther than this to an unhealthy degree for themselves, the streamer, and sometimes the streamer's community. And given how often it has happened in the same corpo Fauna is in, I see no issue with her reitering this.
