My worry is that we are now so used to IRyS' current look that we are just going to be disappointed. I'm so used to it now, and with the new Live2D update that allows you to pin stuff to you, she's really soften the look and done some creative things.

The cutie pin and certain glasses almost look natural, unless she turns her head all the way to the side because then the flatness shows, but with small normal movements they fit extremely well. And of course she basically customizes everything on a per-game basis now, with some looking hilarious and some actually looking good.

That joke from Zeta honestly took me a couple seconds, my reaction was almost the same as the animation.

I don't exactly know how other people feel, but I've never disliked IRyS' design. I know people say it doesn't 'work well' as a L2D model, but I don't agree and I think it's totally fine. It does look different, but not bad. I guess if IRyS is unhappy with it there's not much to be said as she's the one that matters, but I hope it's not a drastic change.

I've told this story before, but; I had no interest in vtubers at the time. I thought it was sorta creepy (not actually 'uncanny valley', but a similar 'this is weird' feeling), and that it was all very 'fake' (like 'corporate/scripted/sponsored'). I was sperging out over FF14 and watching tons of videos, then I saw IRyS's FF14 stream pop up and she looked interesting and different than 'generic anime character #495', so I checked it out and realized that yes, I did like the look, and also that it was an actual person as opposed to reading lines off a script or something. And thus my algorithm was forever changed.

What's the IRyS tattoo guy gonna do after her redesign?

I know having a little hee hee ha ha is definitely warranted, but he did actually answer the redesign/regret question on his reddit thread (searching IRySoInk should find it...and I just realized that also says "IRyS oink"):

"Dude that's permanent what are you gonna do if IRyS retires/gets a massive character redesign etc?"
Accept that it's still a great looking tattoo with tons of fond memories attached.

That's a valid concern, but I'm not -too- worried as the artist has been doing big anime pieces for well over 10 years now. You can see there's a decent bit of negative space left in the background/hair, which should let the ink settle nicely, without messing up the overall tattoo

I do like her old voice it was really cute and never in my life did I think she was using a voice/pitch changer. That said her new voice does things to me. Is this a sign of Asian culture as having an obsession with youth?

I do actually like that she looks different, it's unique and looks good, but I feel they will either give her a new artist or make her more generic just to speed up new outfits and such.

Amazing how fast she seems to be rising. Its scary how talented she actually is.

Her design was ridiculed and hated on her debut, but honestly, you just can't take debut first impressions seriously, every single debut is vehemently hated and criticized like we're on a fucking film festival. TEMPUS is a great example.

It is mainly because she looks very different from all of the other girls. Her shading also didnt help. I love the girl but the art-style I still dislike. Would love to see her get the Azki treatment so that she doesnt stand out as much.
