There seems to be some background drama with their founding member announcing the conclusion of her streaming activities earlier this month, but someone more familiar with the matter should probably unpack that one.
I asked some folks within the ID vtuber fan circles and they believed that the closure of Yumelive is pretty much because of not being able to caught up with the current Indonesian vtuber market and not having spotlight which probably lead to slow decline and the upper echelon deciding to cut their losses.
They also cited a drama that became one of the possible factor, which happened to one of their 2nd wave talent named "
Keroro Suika" (frog girl lmao) who was supposed to graduate (along with her fellow partners in her 2nd wave, so 3 person graduation) but ended up got her contract terminated back in 2022. According to what they summarized:
- Somewhere around July 2022 Yumelive had a contest involving making music cover.
- The winner of the contest was announced on 7th September, which turns out to have ties to Yumelive (not sure in detail, something about 'the mixing house' having a stake on Yumelive)
- Suika protested the whole thing even though she was well on her way to graduation (Yumelive has announced on 5th september that both Suika and two other talents on their wave will be graduating on 30th September (the two) and 3rd October (Suika), so Suika was pretty much on her last month)
- Immediately after that protest,
Suika got terminated at 9th September, with words of it being a 'breach of contract'.
Yumelive then made a formal apology to the winner of said contest of what Suika been protested.
I don't exactly know what happened after that, but from what the ID vtuber fans inferred, they haven't really got any breakthrough since then and got outmatched with other ID agencies such as MAHA5 or AKA Virtual, with them even saying that they steadily declining/getting worse until they decided to cut the plug today.
