I don't think that much revenue is from actual vod watchers but people who join the stream. I've had this theory that streams are so much profitable because of the amount of people who tune in and out of the stream. I'd love to see the data but I suspect youtube noticed the amount of people who basically pass through a stream is insane and that's why they made it so that you get an ad when you try to join a stream. The longer you stream the bigger the amount. He should compare the ad revenue between videos and vods with the same amount of views to confirm.
Now I'm really curious just how much money a 3 view makes on youtube

Vod views legitimately are a lot of money, especially because it's a constant more than the burst you can gain while live (which is also great due to watch time and any donations/supas during.) However it purely depends on your CTR (shoot for 4-7%+) and retention (especially if you properly setup midroll ads during and after stream, you want to hit at least a quarter or half average of your video if it's an hour long.) Just from my experience on Youtube for the last decade realistically. Most 3 views can make a decent amount of money if your CTR is good and it's actually pushed to homepages (and sub feeds). Even 2 views can make decent money if they're consistent enough. As much as it may hurt initially, you want to cater your ad categories that can show up on your page too, but passive views on vods on youtube are indeed the money maker.

Im not familiar with iphone but that stupid ass anti-consumer OS probs has adblock too. You need to renew developer status every 30 days or st though. on android there are multiple ways.

Browser ad blockers work to stop YT ads on iOS without doing weird developer mode things, but only if you watch YT through Safari and not the actual YT app. As much as I hate YT ads I still prefer to just use the app most of the time, but if it's a long video or I'm trying to listen while driving or something and the ads are really obnoxious I'll switch to the browser.
