DINOvember 2024
I've been a bit busy this year so this won't be as expansive as previous years. Just a couple sentences about the 3 talents I managed to check out this year and a follow up on talents from previous years next week.
Gaochan
Gaochan is a Japanese kaiju/dinosaur girl who seems to be going for an English speaking audience. I've already discussed this before but a lot of what she does seems calculated not for growth, but for cultivating a small yet loyal fan base. I'm not saying this in a cynical way, it's refreshing to see this level of professionalism from an indie (particularly in light of how EN indies have been acting due to recent happenings), she simply knows what she wants and knows how to get it. The language barrier isn't much of a problem as she has a translator running at the bottom of her stream and she almost exclusively does karaoke streams, with the one exception being an English learning Duolingo stream. I like her design and I like the contrast between her cutesy character voice and her more mature singing voice. Her 3D streams are pretty adorable too. It's also very easy to get into her content as she only streams once a week for about an hour, so there is no intimidating backlog of hundreds of 5-6 hour videos. Check her out if you want to listen to some cute singing but maybe don't have all the time in the world to get invested in a new talent.
Chio Chompi
Chio Chompi is an English speaking dinosaur girl from Pixel Link's second generation, Pixel Chronicle. Most people in this thread that follow smaller corpos should be familiar with her by now. She is fun and creative and her brash nature provides a nice contrast with the typically subdued and cutesy personas of most other Pixel Link girls. She also sometimes streams with Skiddosaurus from last year's DINOvember and is friends with Zumi Dokumi (now Ferumi Kaipa), one of my favorite talents from the now defunct EIEN. Unfortunately, I don't like lolis or the kind of "streamer horror games" that she mostly plays, so that negatively impacts my enjoyment of her content. Nothing against her, I like her and all that I've seen of the other Pixel Link talents, and I still watch her on occasion, but a lot of her content just isn't for me personally. Check her out if you like bratty characters, horror games, or are just a fan of Pixel Link in general.
Youryu Rapuru
Youryu Rapuru is a Japanese Triceratops girl. There's not much I can say about her because of the language barrier but she's cute and she sings. I like her soft pastel color palette and it's nice to see a dinotuber that isn't just a generic dinosaur or a T.rex, though I feel that Triceratops is probably the most popular herbivore for vtubers to go with. She reminds me of Dinos Tirano from last year. Check her out if you understand JP and like soft voices and soft colors. Thanks to
@nooternun for making me aware of this one.
