I still don't understand why Mozu's not allowed to just not collab with males while others do whatever they want. They are still indies
Wasn't it Mozu who had meltdowns because the others wanted to collab with males? How did it turned to Mozu not being allowed to do her own thing?
Because Mozu herself claimed that the girls were pressuring her into male collabs:
This fucking male collab autism is just tiring at this point. A normal person who doesn't want to watch a male collab will just skip that particular stream, the absurdly-prominent politics around it are one of my least favourite parts of this industry since it involves humouring windowlickers who barely qualify as human.
Just pinging all these because I've been away all evening and didn't have a chance to reply individually.
I think there's a real communication snarl here. My reading of the situation is that Mozu had a bad time with some form of male interaction
that was nothing directly to do with the internal situation at V-Dere a few weeks before all this hit. That, or she was possibly caught up in the drama surrounding that incident with the GTARP streams and wanted to make a hard statement about it. But, this was separate and distinct from what came next, aka other V-Dere girls (or possibly just Elia, given how much angry vagueposting she seems to have been doing around the same time on Twitter) trying to pressure her into collaborating with males.
Now I also can't remember specifics, but I do distinctly recall Mozu saying on one of her streams that she doesn't actually have a problem with male collabs, and that she'd love to collab with some of the male content creators she either loved when she was younger or still does today. There are also males in vtubing that women in general have no problems collabing with; Uwu's Lab and RimmyDownUnder both spring to mind.
With this in mind, I believe Mozu's tweets suggested that she's being pressured not into collabing with males
in general, but the
male friends of her coworkers.
What do we know about 'male friends' in vtubing? 1) they're either boyfriends, 2) they're the kind of men that Stonetoss lampooned in his iconic cartoon about male feminists.
Anyone who is on the Discord server knows that we have told female vtubers there
time and again not to associate with people like Evanit0, Merryweather or EvilToaster, because
we know it will end badly. These men are vtubers for clearly selfish, clout-farming reasons, and their entire web of connections in vtubing is obviously to get access to women and draw them in with promises of exposure or insider access. It is these kind of men I think Mozu is being pressured to work with, and she is being pressured to work with them because after the circumstances under which V-Dere left Kawaii, their ability to interact with the mainstream parts of the industry is starkly limited.
Hopefully it ought to be obvious why; most corpos are going to want absolutely nothing to do with women who basically unionized and then performed a carefully coordinated exit from their company that destroyed its prospects, then stayed together as a collective bargaining force afterwards. You don't want that kind of influence near your talents making them think 'if they could do it, why can't we?'.
Thus, they have much more incentive to try and engage with obviously predatory but well-connected people like I mentioned before. If Mozu had the guts to stand up and say 'fuck no, we're not dealing with those mayo-golems just because they can get us a merch deal', then more power to her.
This is all just speculation on my part, but it feels like a plausible narrative to me.
Hey proctor do you have any info on the veracity of the accusations towards Oceane?
I vaguely recall someone telling me they were true a long time ago, and that she was indeed doing things like coordinating harassment campaigns and doxing other people. But I can't remember who and can't dig up receipts easily. Given her total and utter obscurity since then, I think the court of public opinion has definitely condemned her.
