Purrson received several time outs and each time there was a number of Discord regulars questioning why not just ban him outright.

Mostly because nobody ever put together anything like this till after the event. If I had been contacted at any point about any of this, I likely would have stepped in a long time ago. From my perspective, a few people complained and pointed out weird things he said/did every so often. When I and my moderators asked for clarification and evidence, the majority of replies were vague and not actionable (to the point of an outright ban, he received multiple warnings). Whenever I brought these issues to him, he was always apologetic and responded that he would change and stop doing it, and usually stayed quiet long enough for the warning period to expire. What got him banned was none of these instances, it was merely him failing to do what he'd told me he'd do; wind down his presence, stop posting as frequently and eventually leave within a month or two of his last warning.

If even two or three users had come to me in DMs and laid all of this out in the amount of detail you did, he'd have been removed a long time ago. But without that, he was simply treated as any other user and given timed warnings until it was clear they wouldn't work anymore.

In situations like these, communication is essential. Purrson was always communicative, detailed, apologetic and self-critical. Was that pure sophistry to manipulate me? Probably, given everything detailed here. But I can only act based on the information I'm given, and in cases where one side is always informative and the other is always vague or disjointed, the former will always be given more attention than the latter. I just don't have the time to read through thousands and thousands of messages every day to understand the exact context, nuance and detail of every incident, and on a forum which takes free speech as an overriding priority in nearly all cases, it's important to not be arbitrary, or you simply end up manipulated into punishing the opponents of the in-group and turning the place into an echo-chamber.

In summary; if someone with this many red flags appears, catalogue them in detail and send them to me/the staff so we can act on it.

She also joined the Groomcord at one point. She came out as intersex, or a person born with both male and female biological traits. This claim appears genuine and not a part of genderfluid identity politics, and (along with many other issues) ended up costing her a sizable portion of fans.

This is the part that's the fuck up.

Discord's UX for Threads is beyond shit. It kinda-sorta works if it's in a dedicated Forum channel, or if it's meant to be a temporary discussion place on a dedicated topic (like how Slack threads work), but in an active chat Threads become Out of Sight Out of Mind very easily. Keep in mind I alluded to this (but should have stated outright, that's my fuckup) when there were first thoughts of putting together a thread compiling fuckwad behavior in that channel.

This is not to say there wasn't fuck ups on the janny side either. Yeah they have been letting Purrson go way too long, but steps have been taken to correct the haphazard nature of cataloguing fuckwad behavior in the community. Forums have reporting systems for a reason, and the groomcord now has a ticketing bot for exactly this reason. Whether people are using it as it's meant to be used is yet to be seen.
