Let's build a chronological list of all the noteworthy events that happened in 2023. I'll start, and hopefully you all can reply with things I missed as I go along.

Note that this is a not-so-subtle ploy to get you all to help me come up with stream content. I'll be going over this list either on my Christmas or New Year's Day streams. If you have a problem with that feel free to ignore this thread. The thread should stand on its own though if you don't care for my streams.

I've only made it through March so far (basically by skimming the channels of dramatubers to get a refresher on major events) but of course this will expand later.

8: Tenrai Calvus and Ibara Kyran fail to debut for Wactor - they quit at the last possible minute, apparently realizing they were about to work for Wactor
14: EIEN announces suspension of Riifu Evergreen
23: After a suspicious period of inactivity by Phase Connect's Fuura Yuri, Phase announces her termination citing contract violations. She would be permitted to make a "goodbye" video which is released on the 30th.
26: Silvervale and Veibae bounce from VShojo and go indie
28: EIEN announces Riifu Evergreen "submitted her terminal leave" and alleges contract violations

Kaburaki Roco, a VTA alumna, debuts in Nijisanji JP after her mysterious disappearance from VTA

Notable because when her VTA VODs were wiped, fans assumed that she would debut very soon, as that was VTA's practice until then - but her VODs were wiped in October 2022. During the four months, the lack of communication about Roco's disappearance set off an ARG-esque autism vortex among JP fans (table of contents). Among other interesting trivia, this vortex discovered methods corpos might use for reserving Youtube and Twitter handles for pre-debut talents.

18-19 Hololive 4th Fes Our Bright Parade

April, also known as Vtuberdämmerung
1: During an April Fools stream, yellow woman Kaneko Lumi briefly changes her model to other members of Cyberlive/Aetheria, including Ayane Hylo and Inami Yoki (she had access due to being a former manager). Initially acting friendly in chat and amused at seeing her old model on stream, Hylo and other Cyberlivers go to twitter to publicly shit on Lumi and Phase as a whole instead of handling it privately. Meanwhile, vtweeters and 2views express their bewilderment at how Lumi managed to have access to their models in the first place. Screenshots of Hylo and co.'s catty mean girl discord where they shat on Lumi and Yuri is revealed among other damning details and takes all wind out of their sails. Lemon woman wins by doing nothing and Hylo retires from indie vtubing a few months later in embarassment. Pippa finally unfollows obnoxious twitter tankie Futakuchi Mana due to her participation in the twitter chaos, resulting in her rarely being brought up in the Asylum anymore.

I updated the OP. Kyouko of the Banned Vtuber Memes Twitter account DMed me on Twitter with a bunch of the earlier sources I was missing, so thanks to her (?) for those. For April I did use a lot from @Lee Crabb 's post but it turns out there were actually a few that he (?) had forgotten that we lost during that bloody month (remember Riifu Evergreen?).

I'm realizing that this thing is going to have way too much content to cover in a single stream and it might do better to group them up by topic or something like that. Let's keep making this list anyway.

Kind of out of order, but the most standout/most nostalgic moments in 2023 for me were:

The standouts for me were Risu, Bae, Okayu, and Korone. Suisei, Sora, Lui, Azki, Watame, Aki, etc were amazing, but I felt these 4 stood out with their music or dancing skills or originality (In Korone's case)

Akai Haato returns after a long hiatus due to health issues (November 1st)

There are random streams I liked. I really loved the Iron Lung Oceangate stream Pippa had, Aki's Cyberpunk streams were great, I adored Watame's Baahubali/RRR/Command streams, Lia has done some bangers, but these 5 are the standouts for me.

Murray I think you should really set a standard for "noteworthy" or else you're gonna get a lot of shit that's just "Important to me even if nobody else cares!"
Imo noteworthy should be:

• Drama
  • Small corpo collapses (if they're too small they must have had some kind of interesting drama attached or else you're gonna get a million dead corps nobody cares about)
  • Graduations (again, if the person was a tiny chuuba then they must've had some drama, there's graduations every day and I don't think you should include every person's 1 view oshi in here)
  • Large Corpo drama that wasn't a nothingburger
  • Big shitshows that weren't nothingburgers (twitter callouts that had good drama attached, freakouts and cancellation/doxing attempts
• Events
  • Debuts
  • Concerts (anniversaries and solo concerts shouldn't really count)
  • Other events like Koshien or FPS shit which are very influential in the community
  • Achievements like awards, appearances in normie media or BIG milestones

I mean, that's basically what all my content is anyway… I tend to have more interest in smaller agencies than the Big 2 (or Big 3) and more interest in English branches than JP/ID/KR ones, so that's what I'm going to pay attention to more than other things. But by all means if there's something I missed, point it out.

The 774inc consolidation is quite significant (January-May 2023) as a lot of things happened.
3 Jan 2023 VApart's disbandement announcement, officially done 7 Jan 2023.
26 Jan 2023 announcement of Komori Met's transfer from 774inc to VSpo. Officially done 1 Feb 2023. I believe this is the first formal company transfer complete with assets.
21 March 2023 all subgroups disbanded and everyone is now under Nanashiinc. This is not completely popular with the talents as...
25 April 2023 Huma Wat (formerly VApart) retired.
9 May 2023 Suou Patra, arguably the most popular Vtuber in the company graduated and become indie keeping the identity and assets. She regularly gets higher CCV numbers than any single remaining individual talent in 774inc.
27 May 2023 Oura Rukako retired from Vtubing activities and become part of management. One of the things she mentioned in the announcement stream was they had a big fight in management and got challenged with "if you don't like how things are done then why don't you prove it and manage?"
They did have three debuts after the merge but one of them, Ina Uruu, has not been streaming since July 2023.

I don't really know much myself but they were formerly upd8's affiliate. There was a time when Animare and HoneyStrap were under upd8 but they both left around the same time Nobuhime graduated.
